"Jellybelly" as written by and William Corgan....
welcome to nowhere fast
nothing here ever lasts
nothing but memories
of what never was
we're nowhere, we're nowhere, we're nowhere to be
nowhere, we're nowhere, we're nowhere to see
living makes me sick
so sick i wish i'd die
down in the belly of the beast
i can't lie
you're nowhere, you're nowhere, you're nowhere to be
nowhere, you're nowhere, you're nowhere to see
there's nothing left to do
there's nothing left to feel
doesn't matter what you want, so
to make yourself feel better
you make is so you'll never
give in to your forevers
and live for always
and forever, forever, you're forever to be
forever, forever, you're forever to me

General Commenti'm sorry, but you people are overlooking the meaning of the last lines. notice how almost the entire song is filled with disgust and anger but then the last two completely change the tone of the song? He's basically talking about how much everything sucks, but none if it matters because he has the person he's in love with

General CommentIt really reminds me of the mood in the song 'Ugly'...a very similar statement of self-hatred, probably self-injury, suicidal thinking ("living makes me sick...so sick I wish I'd die")...very much on the major depression end of the scale.Gorgeous, though, definitely a song I can relate to, unfortunately.

General CommentPerhaps, but I was simply talking about the overall general feeling...Of course, you can be completely in love and still want to die, trust me.

General CommentI think it's about being disgusted with the people around you/humans in general. Maybe with a particular focus on people who always say they're bored but never seem to want to step out of the confines of their narrow lives. It's kind of evident here:
    there's nothing left to do
    there's nothing left to feel
doesn't matter what you want, so
    to make yourself feel better
you make it so you'll never
    give in to your forevers

People who never step off track because they're afraid of what might happen, even when they're unsatisfied or even flat-out miserable in their current lives.

It sounds like the narrator of the song is tired of living in a society that perpetuates its own misery by encouraging a one-size-fits-all life. Kind of a cross between feeling cramped and marginalized and disgusted at the kind of people who keep it going even though they'd rather things be different.

General CommentI think this song is about his lover and him but they aren't getting anywhere in their relationship. And he feels kinda tired like he doesn't wanna try to make things better between them , and theres nothing left to do.

General CommentIt's just pure self-loathing. He hates himself and he wants to die. He's tortured and alone and feels there's nothing left for him.

General CommentI've always thought this song was about the grunge movement. The first verse reminds me a lot of an old U2 lyric: "I don't believe in the 60's in the golden age of pop You glorify the past when the future dries up". I think the song is satirizing the state of music back in the early 90's where bands like Bush and Candlebox were popping up all over the place.

"down in the belly of the beast" is key to the second verse. The Beast is traditionally a supremely evil figure in religious myth (specifically Satan or Hades spring to mind), but "The Beast" is also slang in some circles for the media, which is what I think Billy was leaning towards here. It's not just that he's "so sick", it's a level of disgust with his surroundings (which I say is the media).

General CommentI agree with DeathRockBoy, Id say this song is billy talking to himself, telling himself hes gotten nowhere. He's telling himself "youre nowhere" or you are nothing.

General CommentAnd yet at the end is a tinge of happiness like two people who can appreciate each other again after an arguement. Of course if you take it all as one running line like I do, the reason you live forever and are forever to be, and to me (yourself) is because you make it so you'll never give into the things you dont want. to make yourself feel better, you simply refuse what you don't want to do or don't want to deal with. it's taking the easy way out when you get all angry at yourself over something. Having problems with depression in my life i've felt this way many times and become lazy as hell afterwards as a result. Reguardless, this has to be one of my favourite pumpkins songs of all time, and the first i ever heard.
