"Better Man" as written by and Robert Peter/chambers Williams....
Send someone to love me
I need to rest in arms
Keep me safe from harm
In pouring rain

Give me endless summer
Lord I fear the cold
Feel I'm getting old
Before my time

As my soul heals the shame
I will grow through this pain
Lord I'm doing all I can
To be a better man

Go easy on my concious
'Cause it's not my fault
I know I've been taught
To take the blame

Rest assured my angels
Will catch my tears
Walk me out of here
I'm in pain

As my soul heals through the shame
I will grow through this pain
Lord I'm doing all I can
To be a better man

Once you've found that lover
You're homeward bound
Love is all around
Love is all around

I know some have fallen
On stony ground
But love is all around

Send someone to love me
I need to rest in arms
Keep me safe from harm
In pouring rain

Give me endless summer
Lord I fear the cold
Feel I'm getting old
Before my time

As my soul heals the shame
I will grow through this pain
Lord I'm doin' all I can
To be a better man

General CommentRobbie is the biggest star in the UK but he is pretty notorious for his feelings of self loathing and self doubt. I remember him saying the story behind this song is that he was on a beach, and he asked the spirit of John Lennon to help him write a song. The result was this song, which he wrote in half an hour.

General CommentThis song is about Robbie trying to stop blaming himself about his past and get on with his life trying to be a 'better man' as he gave up drink and drugs. I also noticed the line 'Rest assured my angels' meaning no matter how bad some of his songs are he can always depend on 'angels' probably his most famous song. Never noticed this before just thought it was quite interesting, anyone else agree?

General CommentI think Robbie went thru a lot of hard times as famous star but now he's learnt to deal with stardom and finally at peace with himself. He doesn't blame himself for his mistakes anymore and is trying to be a 'better man'. Very inspirational.

General CommentI think this song is more than anyone loves . Full of emotions , although i don't pretty like him . This song reminds me of my ex-girlfriend that she used to love me . Maybe i never tried to be a better man .

General Commentit seems to me that all the really depressing songs of robbie williams are heaps better than the others. compare this with radio.

General Commentshut up, anyone is free to call their songs the way they want!.
And this is a very simple and sincere song...about struggling to get over his past, his unhealthy behaviour..."Feel I'm getting old before my time" :(
