Don't know why tori came by,
I could see by the look in her eye,
Tori'd been driving round the town for a while
Plying with the thought of leaving
I don't know why, tori just smiled
And mentioned something about how you were right
Must have been hard to see
Through the tears she was hiding
She said I might not be seeing him soon.
I got a few things I've been waiting to do

Hey
Tori came by,
Tori came by tonight
Hey
Tori came by,
She says to say "goodbye"

Looked outside,
At the car in the drive
And the suitcase,
On the backseat inside
Sure, it's so,
She can't look out behind at the road
She said I might not be seeing him soon.
I got a few things I've been waiting to do

Hey
Tori came by,
Tori came by tonight
Hey
Tori came by,
She says to say "goodbye"

Don't look down.
She seemed alright
You might be asking "where is tori tonight?"
Somewhere out on the highway,
I'm sure that she is fine

It's not about suicide, people, it's without a doubt about a break-up...don't be morbid...

A friend of mine told me this song was about suicide in her opinion, and i totally agree.

Maybe I'm not reading in deep enough, but I think this song is pretty much laid out in the lyrics. It's about a girl, Victoria or Tori, who just got out of a bad relationship and feels that she needs some time to regroup ("she says 'i might not be seeing him soon, i gotta few things i've been meaning to do'") and so she says goodbye to a good friend (the person singing, John or someone, whoever) and the friend is passing along the message of how he saw her and why she left.

I think that Tori was dating someone who was living with John and she is leaving town. She came by to tell her boyfriend, but John was the only one there...So now this is his way of telling his friend that Tori is gone... I also think the lyrics is:

Mentioned something Bout how you were right

    Instead of:

Mentioned something Bout how you arrived

    But oh well....

It is a really sad song but I caught something abotu suicide in there too--"looked outside at the car in the drive and the suitcase on the backseat inside, sure its so she cant look out behind at the road"--if she cant see the road, then shes more likely to crash...i think its interesting that its something subtle like that. she wasnt planning to drive off a cliff. the blinded vision would look a lot more accidental

I think it's so she can't look back. She's just getting out of the town, a bad relationship. Don't look down / She seemed alright / You might be asking / Where is Tori tonight Somewhere out on the highway I'm sure she's fine...

I think this song is actually about tori, who's leaving her boyfriend. She doenst say good bye to him, she just tell john (or the narrator) to say good bye for her, because its too hard for her to say it herself, and john is saying this to the boyfriend....i think so!

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
