"The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter" as written by and C. Mcguire A. Canfora....
The muscle and bone - they encase my heart but never touch my soul.
I'll save that for the water and its shore, fear makes friends with joy.

And I'll march slowly and I'll never forget
How the music stopped or the feel of your breath. (four times)

The flesh and the blood - they keep my body warm but still my mind is cold.
To know what's fair is not always fair, but what proves real will never flee.

And I'll march slowly and I'll never forget
How that black dress fell upon your white neck.
Grand Isle rests quiet this time of year
And I know you will be leaving soon my dear

General CommentIt would have been nice to exercise some kind of spacing and punctuation.
Also, it's: "The flesh and the blood," Not the muscle and blood.

General CommentThe Anniversary wrote this song based on the novel The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter by Carson McCullers.

Short Description fo the book (from DooYoo books):
Set in the American South, this is the story of a group of people who appear to have little in common except they are all hopelessly lonely. A young girl, a drunken socialist and a black doctor are drawn to a gentle, sympathetic deaf mute, John Singer, whose presence changes their lives.

General Commentyou really have to read the book to understand the song... i don't really think that a description of the book could do much, but you can go ahead and try.

General CommentGreat Opening song, to me one of the greatest albums ever made. Sequencing, Song writing, Vocals. Etc its all there. Not even my favorite band, but this cd is simply a masterpiece. It deserves to mentioned in the same light as O.K. Computer
