General CommentThe actual lyric is "the bird is a word." It is about the rising popularity in using the middle finger to tell someone to f___ off at the time.

General CommentThis song is in the film 'Full Metal jacket'. I watched the film and a couple of weeks later kept on singing this song to myself but didn't have a clue were I heard it from so looked it up on the web and lo and behold found out where I heard it and also how insane the song really is. Its so funky though!

General CommentActually ADimeADexter, this song came out in the early sixties. I think it's crazy that this actually made it to the 4th spot on the billboard charts.
