It's all in your mind, she said
The darkness and the light
The clock it bleeds for you
But you never got the timing right
I woke you up
And I slit the throat of your confidence
And we laughed in the night
And I felt all right (woo)

All hands on deck boys
'Cause this ship was made to sink
Your swabber salutes you now
But I know what he's thinking
I woke you up
And I slit the throat of your confidence
And we laughed in the night
And I felt all right

Thanks a lot, thanks a lot
You don't even know, thanks a lot

The clothes she wears mis-fit
And she's nervous when she speaks
Her zombie mom and dad live in a separate house of freaks
I woke you up
And I slit the throat of your confidence
And we laughed in the night
And I felt all right

Thanks a lot, thanks a lot
You don't even know, thanks a lot

I'm the one for you
'Cause I know all the dirty things you like to do
I'm the fear in your eyes
I'm the fire in your flies
I'm the sound that's buzzing around your head

Thanks a lot, thanks a lot
You don't even know
Thanks a lot, thanks a lot

this is pretty easy to break down if you spend the time...

It's all in your mind, she said The darkness and the light The clock it bleeds for you But you never got the time in right I woke you up And I slit the throat of your confidence And we laughed in the night And I felt all right

This is about a boy and a girl, a girl who is an outcast, and has problems. the boy got to know her, past her reputation, which isn't a good one. he slit the throat of her confidence, meaning she doesn't intimidate him. once they get past this barrier, they actually have a lot in common. (laughed through the night.

All hands on deck boys Cause this ship was made to sink Your swabber salutes you now But I know what he's thinking

This basically means that all the friends and family of the boy don't like that he is with this girl. all the people who are openly against this relationship say that he is gonna go down with her, and the 'swabbers' are his friends, who support him, but still think the same thing everyone else does

I woke you up And I slit the throat of your confidence And we laughed in the night And I felt all right Thanks a lot, Thanks a lot, Thanks a lot

same thing as the first one, I woke you up meaning that he surprised her, and broke her barrier.

The clothes she wears mis-fit And she's nervous when she speaks Her zombie mom and dad Live in a separate house of freaks

this shows that the girl isn't screwed up, just different. deep down she is actually really insecure(nervouse when she speaks). she dresses a certain way that society doesn't approve of. we find out that she is messed up because her parents are divorced, and both of her families(mom and stepdad, dad and step mom) are all fucked up.

I woke you up And I slit the throat of your confidence And we laughed in the night And I felt all right Thanks a lot, Thanks a lot, Thanks a lot

blah blah blah, you know this one

I'm the one for you Cause I know all the dirty things you like to do I'm the fear in your eyes I'm the fire in your flies I'm the sound that's buzzing around your head Thanks a lot, Thanks a lot Thanks a lot, Thanks a lot

this is explaining that they are ment for each other. they are perfect, with her fucked up life, and his compasion for her. he truely loves her, and thats what she needed. they both saved each other from mundane lives that probably would have either ended early, or gotten worse.

"Thanks a lot" is them saying thanks to society. these are both people, and everyone was against them. they are perfect for each other, and it is basically saying "thanks a lot for your support. if i listened to you i wouldn't have all this joy"

hope that helps. and remember, this is my view of it, it could be wrong.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
