I got you crawling up a mountain
Hanging round my neck
I got you twisted around my finger
Crawling round my legs
The emptiness
The craziness
Satisfy my hungriness
Darling how would it feel?

If we sleep together
will you like me better?
If we cum together
we'll go down forever
If we sleep together
will I like you better?
If we cum together
Prove it now or never

Make me a pretty person
Make me feel like I belong
Make me hard and make me happy
Make me beautiful
The emptiness
The craziness
Satisfy this loneliness
Darling how would it feel?

If we sleep together
will you like me better?
If we cum together
we'll go down forever
If we sleep together
will I like you better?
If we cum together
Prove it now or never

If we sleep together (nothing satisfies me baby)
If we sleep together (I'll wear something pretty baby)
If we sleep together (give me what I crave now baby)
If we sleep together (you will drive me crazy baby)
If we sleep together (save the rest for later baby)
If we sleep together (I save it all for you my baby)
If we sleep together

i think this song is about wanting the approval of the person your with so badly, you just want to have sex because then maybe you will mean enough to them that they will keep you around. she just feels so empty and out of control, that maybe this will make it alright.

Oh yeah you're all right, she's a woman so it must be about her feeling peer pressure about having sex with a guy. Are you just completely ignoring the lines,

"i got you crawling up a mountain hanging round my neck i got you twisted round my finger crawling round my legs"?

I think it's the exact opposite of what you think it's about. The point is that she currently has someone who she can control because he wants to sleep with her but she won't agree to it, and if she does it will be anticlimactic for her ("nothing satisfies me") because it will end the manipulation that she has.

When she says, "will you like me better?", she's being satirical, she knows that sleeping with him will both end the thrill of the prospect of sleeping with her, for him, and the power that she has over him, so neither of them will like the other better.

It's a pretty depressing song because she doesn't offer an alternative.

I agree with spamuell's interpretation of this song. Its very obvious not only from the lyrics but how she is singing them that she is the one in control. She definetly has this guy bent. The lines "i got you crawling up a mountain hanging round my neck" are saying how hard he is trying like he is crawling up a mountain not climbing a mountain but climbing it and she is wearing him like a chain. Around her neck. As far as the next line : i got you twisted round my finger crawling round my legs"? Hell thats obvious. She has him twisted around her finger and he is like a dog around her legs. This poor guy is so freakin bent for her she can do what she wants with him. Trust me i have been this guy on a few occasions so i recognize it. lol. The rest of the song speaks of how she knows he wants to sleep with her but she knows she is in control and what does a manipulating woman who uses sex do? She doesnt give up that control thats what!! Trust me they never do! I have an 18yr old stepson and i get to see him play the puppy to the fems with the whips and damn if it dont piss me off. Ilaugh sometimes cause i know he has to learn same as i did. But at any rate this song is definetly about a woman who is going to keep this guy dangling for awhile but i think in the end of the song she gives in to him because she is a very sexual woman as the end of the song sings of. She says prove it now or never. i think the rest is speaking of the moment they have sex where she wears something pretty , give me what i crave but she forewarns him. Nothing satisfys her as nothing ever will like controlling someone. Sex is a poor substitute for her since she looses control then. After he gets his he's probobly gone. Just my interpretation

This is a great description of how it feels when you want someone, but then wonder if you really will want everything that goes with it. You wonder what will happen. Results are so hard to predict.

I think the meaning of this song is pretty obvious. She's in a relationship, and she thinks that her partner may like her more if they have sex. Peer preasure?

i think this song is about lust, this guy she really likes, however only wants her for sex, and she hasn't given it to him? and it's driving him crazy? but she's insecure...and she doesn't want to be used for just sex, but she's wondering if they do have sex, if he'll like her more....and the reason why she's witholding it isn't because she doesn't want to have sex, but because she's insecure and don't want to be used simply for sex. that's what i think

I think its about her liking someone who doesn't want to be in a relationship with her, so she thinks if I sleep with him, maybe he'll like me in that way.

I think sisterofthemoon is right. Whether its her virginity or whether its just a new guy, dunno, but i think its pretty clear. Unless its a metaphor for something.. which is always seems to be in this industry lol i love the beginning:

i got you crawling up a mountain hanging round my neck i got you twisted round my finger crawling round my legs

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.
