I lie, I wait
I stop, I hesitate
I am, I breathe
I meant, I think of me

Is it any wonder I can't sleep?
All I have is all you gave to me
Is it any wonder I found peace through you?
Turn to the gates of heaven, to myself be damned
Turn away from light
It's not enough, just a touch
It's not enough

I taste, I love
I come, I bleed enough
I hate, I'm not
I was, I want too much

Is it any wonder I can't sleep?
All I have is all you gave to me
Is it any wonder I found peace through you?
Turn to the gates of heaven, to myself be damned
Turn away from light

It's not enough, just a touch
It's not enough, just a touch
It's not enough, just a touch
It's not enough, just a touch
It's not enough, just a touch
It's not enough, just a touch

yer this is from the film lost highway, excellent film-another David Lynch masterpiece. great sound track also. to rockstar001:_ I think this song is about more than just someone wanting more than sex, its saying im empty cos i live through you and everything you do is who iam. Its saying your my life and i need every part of you to fill my desire and even then it wont be enough. this is so from a guys point of view i would say, foreverYoung is actually right, girls use guys, +Alot more than guys use girls, except for early teens mayb. girls are so fickle, generally speaking that is; im holding my breath till I find out im wrong.

I like the ideas people are throwing around but I don't think its about a girl. I think it's about god (im an atheist so dont worry about me getting all religiousy about it ha). But the line "Just a touch, it's not enough" and "Is it any wonder I found peace though you?" immediately draw my mind to the subject of god. The just a touch part makes me picture the famous painting of god touching whoevers firgers and Billy kinda saying its not enough, I know it's way out there but it seems like Billys kinda saying god doesn't do enough for humanity or whatever.

It is life/existence through the eye / eyes of a deamon or the devil. He was created. All he has is what God gave him and yet he is in agony. On earth, drinking a drop of water a day. He can see the gates of heaven but it torments him to the point where he must look away. Is it any wonder he can't fucking sleep? There is no sleep for his kind. He finds peace through God, in just knowing He is in control, but it is not enough. Just a touch. A sorrow song to the pain of fallen angels.

I wonder because the songs name is eye maybe it was suppose to be thought of as "eye lie, eye wait, eye stop...... and so on and so on. representing people and how selfish they are and the materialistic lifestyles that people live.im proabaly wrong, but it sounded cool when i replaced eye every time I came up.Im open for other ideas.

Punkie, in reference to the naming of Corgan's songs...

"Say you write a song about a chandelier, and the chandelier gives off light. And the light is the color red and red reminds you of the color your not supposed to wear around a bull. So you name the song 'Cow.' " - Billy Corgan

as you see, he doesn't usually just take a word from the song and put it in the name's place. Sorry.

I've always wondered: was this song written for a soundtrack to a movie? And if so, which? Because I really have no clue unless they just decided to release it on its own instead of putting it on Adore.

I think that explains some of the names to Pumpkins' songs. Thanks for posting it, where did you get it?

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
