Neon shines through smoky eyes tonight,
It's 2 AM, I'm drunk again,
It's heavy on my mind.

I could never love again,
So much as I love you.
Where you end, where I begin,
Is like a river going through.

Take my eyes, take my heart,
I need them no more.
If never again they'll fall upon,
The one I so adore.

Excuse me please, one more drink.
Could you make it strong,
Cause I don't need to think.
She broke my heart,
My grace is gone.
One more drink and I'll move on.

One drink to remember,
Then another to forget.
Well how could I ever dream to find a sweet love like you again?
One drink to remember, and another to forget...

Excuse me please, one more drink.
Would you make it strong,
Cause I don't need to think.
She broke my heart,
My grace is gone.
One more drink and I'll move on.
One more drink and I'll be gone.

You think of things impossible,
Then the sun refuse to shine.
I woke with you beside me,
Your cold hand lay in mine.

Excuse me please, one more drink.
Could you make it strong,
Cause I don't need to think.
She broke my heart,
My grace is gone.
One more drink and I'll go...

Excuse me please, one more drink.
Could you make it strong,
Cause I don't need to think.
She broke my heart, my grace is gone.
One more drink and I'll move on,
One more drink and I'll be gone.
One more drink my grace is gone.

General CommentThis is what i've heard.....dave said in one of his acoustic versions that his step dad died and it was hard to fit a step-dad into a song so he did the "easy" thing and wrote about a girl breaking his heart....that is really easy to write about though...happens all the time....

General CommentDave is married to a woman named Ashley. They got married after an 8 year long relationship. They have fraternal twins...Grace is one of them (alive and well).
The girlfriend that he asked to marry him three times is Julia Grey...not grace.

General CommentThis is such a great song to listen to if you are in one of those depressed, sad moods. It isn't a very "cryptic" song, so it is rather easy to figure out what it means. Just by listening to the chorus you can tell it is about someone breaking your heart, and drinking the pain away.

General CommentI seem to have taken a different meaning to this song than most people: yes, the narrator is drinking away his troubles, but his love didn't just leave him. From the lyrics "You think of things impossible, then the sun refuse to shine. I woke with you beside me, your cold hand lay in mine," I think his love has *died.*

General Commentjust because it says that her cold hand lay in his, does not have to mean that his love has died... he's speaking like one day he realized that she wasn't feelin it and that they were no longer the way they used to be.

General Commentinteresting...never thought of that. I think it fits. I supose it's possible for her to 'break his heart' in her death, but since it's never really said that way, you automaticly believe she *did* something.

General CommentI Believe she died as well...He says in the song "I don't need to think. She broke my heart..." If she died she didn't mean to break his heart...The way he sings it , it sounds like he doesn't need to think she broke his heart....At least that is what i thought...before i saw the lyrics written. I Completly Agree with imp2k1, his reasoning is another one of the points i thought too. Either way...It is a great song.

General CommentThere is a live version of this song in which Dave says how he wrote it after his stepfather passed away and that it was somewhat from his mother's perspective (though he believes "she's much stronger than this character")... i think it's a beautiful song

General CommentHate To Tell Ya But You Are All Wrong The song Grace Is Gone is about daves father.......who has passed away dave thought it would be sorta different if he wrote the lyrics with her and she insted of directly sayin "him or he"
