I thank you for all the lives you've led
I thank you for every word you said
I thank you for walking away

I thank you

I thank you for the promises you broke
For always watching, watching while I choke
I thank you for teaching me

Yes, I thank you for your hurting

(I bite down) a little harder
(My blades) a little sharper
My roots, my roots
Run deep into the hollow

(Strike back) a little harder
(I scream) a little louder
My roots, my roots
Run deep into the hollow

I'm stronger than I ever knew
I'm strong because of you

(I hit back) a little louder
(Fuck you) a little harder
My roots, my roots
Run deep into the hollow

I thank you for the hole you dug in me
Filled it with cement, sunk me in your sea
Thank you for being so obscene

I thank you

I thank you for never facing me
Swimming in the mud, never coming clean
I thank you for nothing in between

Yes, I thank you for leaving

(I bite down) a little harder
(My blades) a little sharper
My roots, my roots
Run deep into the hollow

(Strike back) a little harder
(I scream) a little louder
My roots, my roots
Run deep into the hollow

I'm stronger than I ever knew
I'm strong because of you

(I hit back) a little louder
(Fuck you) a little harder
My roots, my roots
Run deep into the hollow

You wanna know why I like the pain, you say?
There's a sick part of me thankful for the hate, I
I stay positive and I, I push forward, you see?
I, I gotta do the right thing for my family
So I smile and I say that the world is just fine
As these fucking parasites eat up my spine
So I ask you once, and I ask you again
Where do your roots start
And where do your roots end?

(I bite down) a little harder
(My blades) a little sharper
My roots, my roots
Run deep into the hollow

(Strike back) a little harder
(I scream) a little louder
My roots, my roots
Run deep into the hollow

I'm stronger than I ever knew
I'm strong because of you

(I hit back) a little louder
(Fuck you) a little harder
My roots, my roots
Run deep into the hollow

My roots, my roots
Run deep into the hollow

My roots, my roots
Run deep into the hollow

I'm stronger than I ever knew
I'm strong because of you

(I hit back) a little louder
(Fuck you) a little harder
My roots, my roots
Run deep into the hollow

My roots, my roots
Run deep into the hollow

My roots, my roots
Run deep into the hollow

(My roots, my roots)

I thought this was about something in her past, or someone who HATED her maybe? Someone who was horrible to her it sounds like, and she has a lot of problems to thank them for. But because of those problems, she has to be strong, So now she is stronger thanks to everything horrible they've done.

    My Interpretation

I believe this song is about how Maria's father sexually abused her as a child then abandoned her and her mom. He's her roots but she's thankful that his actions has made her stronger and he finally left.

"I thank you for the hole you dug in me Filled it with cement, sunk me in your sea" He scarred her.

"Thank you for being so obscene" The sexual abuse

"I thank you for never facing me Swimming in the mud, never coming clean I thank you for nothing in between" I don't think he ever fessed up to what he had done to her

"Yes, I thank you for leaving" She glad he left after the turmoil he caused her

Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Blink-182
This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
