I'm so badly broken

I've blamed myself,you're so pathetic
You moved along but you won't forget me
If there is a million different reasons why, you left it all behind, then try me,

When love has lost all its meaning,

You know,
I'm not alright, this is where I draw the line,
I tried to run, I tried to hide
But I'm so badly broken you know,
You swept me off my feet, and now I stop beneath, the bridge you burned, I died for me
And I'm so badly broken.

I'm sure you got the best excuses, to keep me at your feet
It's all you got to clear your conscience, Take a good long look at me!
You see a shell of what I've used to be,and get closer anyone look, anything,
Like how I thought it should be

When love has lost all its meaning,

You know,
I'm not alright, this is where I draw the line,
I tried to run, I tried to hide
But I'm so badly broken you know,
You swept me off my feet, and now I stop beneath, the bridge you burned, I died for me
And I'm so badly broken.

You lost your chance
And you will never get to love me again
The sky is open doors
And I can finally see the sun
And what it was, it was!

You,
You know I'm not alright, this is where I draw the line,
I tried to run, I tried to hide,
But I'm so badly broken you know
You swept me off my feet, and now I stop beneath, the bridge you burned, I died for me
And I'm so badly broken.

You know,
I'm not alright, this is where I draw the line,
I tried to run, I tried to hide,
But I'm so badly broken you know
You swept me off my feet, and now I stop beneath, the bridge you burned, I died for me
And I'm so badly broken.

And you will never get to love me again

I think this song is about when Nick left Get Scared and came back, and that haters that didn't enjoy him coming back into the band and hated him for his suicide attempt and stuff like that. For example in the chorus, "The worst is over" (his suicidal thoughts) "my eyes are open" (he feels better now but he still hears and sees people talking about it) "they can say whatever, they can say whatever they want" (how the haters can hate on him for coming back to the band or in general not like the band) "Tonight I'm not coming undone" maybe he feels like he's gonna take whatever people say to them and not let it get to him and he'll show up no matter what) And in the next verse it says "I won't forget the ones who pulled me out when I was at my worst" may reflect to Craig Mabbitts of ETF for saving his life and to his band for always being their for him. And again it says "my skin is so much thicker now" (may mean he doesn't get hurt as easily or tries not to anyway and that he's stronger now) Finally to the bridge part when he states, "No turning back, I see it all infront of me. Forget the past their is no way that I'd ever leave." I think this means that he would never leave Get Scared again, and he wish he never had in the first place. He's saying he wish he could turn back time and not leave the band for his ex wife. He just regrets doing that. This however is my own opinion and what I imagine the song is about, you don't have to agree because every song means something different to each person. Thanks for reading, have a nice day.

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
