I called the teacher 'cause I wanted to confess it now
Can I make the time for me to come and get it blessed somehow
She spoke to me in such a simple and decisive tone
Her sweet admission left me feeling in position from

I don't take these things so personal
Anymore, anymore
I don't think it's irreversible
Anymore

Somebody hooted and they hollered can I buy a vowel
Don't let her catch you in the act of throwing in the towel
And when it's not as it appears to be, the flagrant foul
Can I put my fingers in your mouth before you start to growl

I don't think that it's so terrible
Anymore, anymore
I don't think that it's unbearable
Anymore

Tell me now, I know that it just won't stop
You will find your flow when you go robot
I want to thank you and spank you upon your silver skin
Robots don't care where I've been
You've got to choose it to use it, so let me plug it in
Robots are my next of kin

Sometimes I feel like I'm a sentimental trooper
She cried so hard, you know she looked like Alice Cooper

I don't think that it's so personal
Anymore, anymore
I don't think it's irreversible
Anymore

Tell me now, I know that it just won't stop
You will find your flow when you go robot

I want to thank you and spank you upon your silver skin
Robots don't care where I've been
You've got to choose it to use it, so let me plug it in
Robots are my next of kin

I'm kissing high and low
Our bodies like two dominoes
Can I come and get you when I hit you in your party clothes
Let's turn this cosplay holiday, what we obey
And now we're welcoming each other to this cabaret

I don't think that it's so terrible
Anymore, anymore
I don't think that it's unbearable
Anymore

Tell me now, I know that it just won't
Stop
You will find your flow when you go robot
I want to thank you and spank you upon your silver skin
Robots don't care where I've been
You've got to choose it to use it, so let me plug it in
Robots are my next of kin

Well, once in the interview, AK said that this album was insipred by a love that falls apart like an atom bang. So, I think, Anthony, tired of being in love that always ends and left him feel bad, so he wish he could be a robot, who wan't feel something like love or sad emothions etc. Robots don't care about feelings and emothions.

    My Interpretation

This is my favourite song from the album as lyrics aside it's such a funky/groovy song that just makes me feel happy.

But looking at the lyrics I think the general sense of this song is that someone is falling in loving with a machine/robot rather than another human. The robot gives them everything they need. Maybe this is pointing towards our modern obsession with technology and social networks that are not so human.

    My Interpretation

For me, the song is about changing, growing and settling in general as a person. The equation I use for the song is change = the future = robots. "Robots" in this song represent a better future and positive change.

Change is tumultuous, stressful and scary. We become so afraid of change we never really have a clear vision of the future. The protagonist of this song is describing how he eventually found a way to cope with change, and how he came to terms with moving forward.

"I don't take these things so personal anymore/I don't think it's irreversible anymore."

The protag is obviously coping with a loss or some kind of heartache, and he seems to have some experience with these bad situations. He's realizing he doesn't have to sulk, ruminate or hate himself anymore. He's learning and growing up.

"Going robot" means to evolve. To become better. Not growing cold and emotionless, but "upgrading" yourself from your life experiences and becoming a stronger/smarter person and learning to adjust, accept and even manipulate change.

"Robots are my next of kin." He is embracing the future, even thanking it for the great things it will bring. Robots represent the future and the good things it can bring. He's happy and ready to accept the future, instead of being terrified of it.

I personally think that it is a song about rejection and finding love online now compared to a past of face to face rejection after rejection and the disco era bet brings us to a time of that

"She said it with such a simple tone" She didn't try to soften the blow just not interested

"Robots don't care where I've been robots are my next of kin"

People online don't know the fucked up past and I love them like family

    My Opinion

One part of the song really bothers me:

"Sometimes I feel like I'm a sentimental trooper She cried so hard you know she looks like Alice Cooper"

All of the other verses have 4 lines, but this one stops short at just 2 and goes straight to chorus. It breaks the pattern and really draws attention to itself, for what? To name-drop Alice Cooper? It seems silly.

I can imagine the band putting finishing touches on the song, Anthony second-guessing himself for a minute, saying "Uh, I don't know about the Alice Cooper line. I worked really hard to find a word to rhyme with Cooper, but now I don't know if it fits the song. Should we take that part out?" And Flea says "No man, the Alice Copper part is awesome, you GOTTA leave that in!"
And Anthony smiles at himself, "Yeah, I thought it was great too, guess I was just having a momentary lack of confidence"

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
