I took a walk inside a grocery store today
I saw some dismembered corpses, to my dismay
They were packaged nice
And clean
But the truth remains
Brutal and obscene

I saw a two-year-old eating his lunch today
He swallowed bite-size chunks of sorrow and decay
Cartoon animals
On TV
Tortured animals
The reality

I used to watch my ex-girlfriend eat murder too
She asked me not to push on her my point of view
She loved animals, she said
Why did she eat them?
A habit, she said

I don't think I'm any better than you
I used to eat those poor animals too
I just didn't know
The truth
I just didn't know
The horrible truth

Factory farms are the worst things on Earth
Meat, eggs, and dairy are simply not worth
All the suffering
And death
All the suffering
And horrific death

I know that most people are really kind and good
I hope they change their diets, like they know they should
So they don't support
Cruelty
So they can support
Compassion and peace
