"The Bourne Identity" as written by and Alex Turner....
Now I know jealousy
I caught you talking to the real me
Can't tell you how unhappy that shit makes me
If you hear him calling, promise you'll ignore him

He's kind of my enemy
Whenever I'm on to something good you see
He always waltzes in to spoil it for me
And I can see him starting, want to break my heart then
That's the way to do it

Glass-bottomed ego
Is still afloat but can't you see the cracks appearing in the base?

There ain't no ejector seat
When you're longing for the sweet smell of self-esteem
And you got yourself as a backseat driver

Spilled the un-spillable beans
And I've dreamed every single impossible dream
I just can't remember any of the details
Let's just have a buzz because by the time I'm done fucking beating myself up
There'll be nothing left to love

I feel like the sequel
You wanna see but you were kinda hoping they would never make

Yeah I'm the mystery man that's been unmasked
I'm getting caught in my own trap
I'm leaning in to kiss the past goodbye
Yeah I'll be leaving now, I'm making tracks
And I doubt that I'll be coming back
Oh the night is young, baby make it a blast
'Cause you know it's growing up so fast

Glass-bottomed ego
Is still afloat but can't you see the cracks appearing in the base?

Song MeaningThis song is an exploration of the inner doubts and criticisms one has about themselves that they often mask on the outside through bravado or a false sense of confidence and charisma. Alex is coming face to face with that fact that his insecurities are ruining his relationship and have likely previous relationships he's had in the past. These feelings are so strong, distinct, and opposite to he normally is(and who people see him as) that it's as if a separate individual lives within him. He gives hint that the persona he puts for to others isn't who he is. In fact, the self conscious individual is more indicative of his true self.

Lines like "I caught you talking to the real me. Can't tell you how unhappy that shit makes me" show how uncomfortable he is opening up. His true self is getting progressively stronger and becoming more apparent to those around him as the facade gets chipped away hence "Glass bottomed ego. Still afloat, but can't you see the crack appearing in the base". The next verse portrays his desire for a true sense of confidence and how difficult it is to attain. "And you've got yourself as a backseat driver" back seat drivers are those who nag and complain in the driver's ear, if he's saying that he is his own backseat driver he means that he is always tearing himself down and scolding himself for mistakes he makes and this contributes to his negative self image.

All I got for now I will edit and complete this another time lol

General CommentWith as much as Alexa Chung is obsessed with the Jason Bourne series I can't imagine this is a coincidence. There were rumors that they were back together before his breakup with Arielle Vandenberg and before Taylor Bagley ("the mystery man has been unmasked" -- Alexa all of a sudden saying in interviews she was dating someone full stop). I think this is when he starts to see someone, ("talking to the real me" -- same first name) Alexander Skarsgard creeping in and decides to say goodbye forever.
