It is such a drag,
You're dressed in rags,
Everybody waving these faded flags,
Tongue tied a fire inside,
Caught like a deer in the headlights.
Mine, mine, it isn't a lot
So why try to take more than I got,
More, more, we only want more,
It's not what we came, for it's not what we paid for.

We're all in this together, so keep moving don't stop, keep moving don't stop
We're all in this tougher, so keep moving don't stop, keep moving just go, go, go.

Every night I free fall into a dream,
Mirrored halls in the chrome machine,
It's a phenomenon that goes on and on,
Saying it right but you're doing it wrong.
Slow down you're going too fast now,
A delicate dance take your foot off the gas now,
Don't try making it last now,
Sooner later you're a thing of the past.

We're all in this together, so keep moving don't stop, keep moving don't stop
We're all in this together, so keep moving don't stop, keep moving don't stop.
We may never be the same again, we may never be the same again,
Keep moving don't stop, keep moving don't stop,
We may never be the same again, we may never be the same again
Keep moving don't stop, keep moving just go, go, go.

We are we are the angry apes,
We don't want to look at no empty plates.
We are we are the fire brigade,
All we want to do is set the record straight.
We are we are the first degree,
We're the thief, we're the judge, we're the jury.
We are we are the angry apes
Shake the fruit from the vine till there's nothing to take now.

It's a phenomenon that goes on and on,
Saying it right but you're doing it wrong,
Tongue tied a fire inside,
Caught like a deer in the headlights.
Slow down you're going too fast now,
A delicate dance take your foot off the gas now,
Don't try making it last now,
Sooner later you're a thing of the past.

We're all in this together, so keep moving don't stop, keep moving don't stop,
We're all in this tougher, so keep moving don't stop, keep moving don't stop,
We may never be the same again, we will never be the same again,
Keep moving don't stop, keep moving don't stop,
We may never be the same again, we may never be the same again,
Keep moving don't stop, keep moving don't stop,
Keep moving don't stop, keep moving just go, go, go.

I must confess that I only know this song through playing MLB the Show '16, but the more I heard this song, the more catchy it seemed to get. I finally looked up the lyrics, and I think I've gotten it down:

"So why try take more than I got. More more, we only want more..." Basically, this verse is about over-indulgence in the 1st World, meanwhile others in the same world are super poor and "wearing rags"

"It's a phenomenon that goes on and on; saying it right, but you're doing it wrong" Everybody knows that our over-indulgence is a problem and that we need to stop damaging our environment, yet most of us continue to do it.

"Don't try making it last now, sooner or later you're a thing of the past" The precise reason why people continue to over-indulge: life is short and we all want to enjoy it to the fullest, even if it destroys future generations

The entire verse that begins with "we are we are the angry apes" explains the conflict on how we are the angry apes (the ones who consume all the fruits and natural resources of our world), but we are also supposed to be the fire brigade (the ones who try to fix the problems we created). Similarly, we are the thief (the ones who "steal" natural resources), yet we are also the judge and jury (the ones who decide our own guilt and consequences). Because of this conflict, we don't stop ourselves from draining the environment.

Basically, the conclusion is that we are all in this conflict together, where, in our own minds, we cannot help but continue the lifestyle that leads to environmental harm that we know is bad for us all. We must all either work together to change this, or we may never be the same again. I must say that this is a brilliantly written song by an underrated band.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

“Head > Heels” is a track that aims to capture what it feels like to experience romance that exceeds expectations. Ed Sheeran dedicates his album outro to a lover who has blessed him with a unique experience that he seeks to describe through the song’s nuanced lyrics.
