"the lyrical content of the trio of songs 'b', 'city revisited' and 'heavy breathing' are bleak and not typical for aflightoremember. they are based on a series of horrendous murders which occurred in my home town. one of the bodies was found very close to my house and after reading a police report and an interview with the suspect, these songs were written, presumably as a way of making sense of it all. i was also listening to okkervil river's 'westfall' a lot at the time, which i'm sure also had an influence. i slightly shudder to think that i wrote them now, but it's important to document and explain the writings and the context in which they were written." - MN 2016.

settle down and let the ashtray do the talking. "but the tar is covering my throat". i could set your head on fire. "ok, i'll chew the butts until i choke". but as the scabbing slowly shrinks your neck and the blood is draining out of your jaw, don't shut your eyes because the most ideal bit is coming up, gravel eating whore and as your body slowly starts to shiver in the street, i hope to fucking god you've got no insecurities. regardless of your faith i will take up half the air your breathe. put your back straight, strain it higher. "but the nails, they're altering my pose". do you really need those ankles for walking? let's get you out of those modest clothes. as the water rushes up to your neck and your gaping hole is surrounded with stars don't shut your eyes because the most ideal bit is coming up, you can't stop it, we've come too far and as your body buckles from the weight of baring me, i hope sweet jesus knows not to depend is to believe. regardless of your waist, your bones are brittle and naive.
