"Hey Angel" as written by Julian C. Bunetta, Jamie Scott Baylin and John Henry Ryan....
Hey angel
Do you know the reasons why
We look up to the sky?
Hey angel
Do you look at us and laugh
When we hold on to the past?
Hey angel

Oh I wish I could be more like you
Do you wish you could be more like me?
Oh I wish I could be more like you
Do you wish you could be more like me?

Hey angel
Tell me, do you ever try
To come to the other side?
Hey angel
Tell me, do you ever cry
When we waste away our lives?

Oh I wish I could be more like you
Do you wish you could be more like me?
Oh I wish I could be more like you
Oh I wish I could me more, I could be more, I could be more

Yeah I see you at the bar, at the edge of my bed
Backseat of my car, in the back of my head
I come alive when I hear your voice
It's a beautiful sound, it's a beautiful noise
I see you at the bar, at the edge of my bed
Backseat of my car, in the back of my head
I come alive when I hear your voice
It's a beautiful sound, it's a beautiful noise

Hey angel
Hey angel
Do you look up to the sky?
Do you look up to the sky?

Oh I wish I could be more like you
Do you wish you could be more like me?
Oh I wish I could be more like you (yeah yeah)
Do you wish you could be more like me?

Hey angel
Hey angel

My InterpretationI think this song is about Zayn. He's moving on to a solo career and they're still in the career they've been in since 2010, thus they feel they are holding on to the past. They're stuck in the image of a boyband and "wish they could be more like" Zayn, since he has the opportunity to recreate himself without them. In the second verse, they're wondering if he ever misses them, or if he tries to "come to the other side". They also wonder if he feels bad for them since they are still in the band, "wasting away their lives". In the bridge, they describe how even though Zayn left the band, they are constantly haunted by his presence, seeing and hearing him everywhere.

General Commentit sounds like it's about an existential crisis by coming across someone who seems to be all knowing and have their life together.

My InterpretationI think that "Angel" is a pet name given to person the narrator has a crush on/is in a relationship with. This describes the ups and downs of a relationship.

"Do you know the reasons why...We look up to the sky?" This is about the good times, having to ask why the good times are good can be inexplicable. "Do you look at us and laugh When we hold on to the past?" This is about the bad times, and getting over them and eventually treating some of them has minuscule hurdles, even turning them into jokes at times in the future.

"Oh I wish I could be more like you...Do you wish you could be more like me?" These lines are about admiring qualities in your partner that you wish you had, as will happen in any relationship.

"Tell me, do you ever try...To come to the other side?" This can be interpreted to mean that about experimenting sexually with the same gender/opposite gender (depending on sexual orientation). This could also mean trying to break up, or the other side after the relationship. "Tell me, do you ever cry...When we waste away our lives?" This is clearly about regretting things, maybe by an extended argument or by becoming complacent in a relationship.

The bridge of the song is about imagining this person everywhere, because, despite everything, you love them unconditionally.
