"Art Deco" as written by and Rick Nowels Eizabeth Grant....
Club queen on the downtown scene
Prowling around at night
You're not mean, you just want to be seen
Want to be wild
A little party never hurt no one, that's why it's alright
You want in but you just can't win
So you hang in the likes

You're so Art Deco, out on the floor
Shining like gun metal, cold and unsure
Baby, you're so ghetto
You're looking to score
When they all say hello
You try to ignore them
'Cause you want more (why?)
You want more (why?)
You want more (why?)
'Cause you want more

Young thing on the downtown scene
Rolling around at night
Got things, let it hit to be seen
Like you're rapper's delight
A little party never hurt no one, that's why it's alright
You want in, but you just can't win
So you stay in the lights

You're so Art Deco, out on the floor
Shining like gun metal, cold and unsure
Baby, you're so ghetto
You're looking to score
When they all say hello
You try to ignore them
'Cause you want more(why?)
You want more (why?)
You want more (why?)
'Cause you want more

A little party never hurt no one
So we stay out late
A little party never hurt no one
That's what your friends say
You put your life out on the line
You're crazy all the time
Put your life out on the line
You're crazy all the time

You're so Art Deco, out on the floor
Shining like gun metal, cold and unsure
Baby, you're so ghetto
You're looking to score
When they all say hello
You try to ignore them
'Cause you want more (why?)
You want more (why?)
You want more (why?)
'Cause you want more

A little party never hurt no one
Not you and me
A little party never hurt no one
We were born to be free

My InterpretationI think this song is about a girl who is in love with a boy who wants all the attention. I knew a boy (we weren't in love) he was always talking loud, making jokes and trying (from my point of view) to get attention and I thought we was always mean because of the things he said but after listening to this song, I realized the line, "You're not mean, you just want to be seen" describes him perfectly. In the song, the boy goes to party and live for the thrills to gain attention and fit him and make people love him. "Shiny like a metal, cold and unsure" I think it means he knows he has all the attention but he tries to take it off of him when he knows he wants it, and so does everyone else around him. The boy I know who who reminds me of this song has a girl that hangs around him, it's pretty clear they will never be together because he likes everyone the same way and she will never be anything more to him. I don't know why anyone hasn't commented on this. I always wanted to know the meaning of this song and I think I finally know it. Im not sure so please don't hate all I know is i love this song!
