Boy look at you looking at me
I know you know how I feel
Loving you is hard, being here is harder
You take the wheel
I don't wanna do this anymore, it's so surreal
I can't survive if this is all that's real

All I wanna do is get high by the beach
Get high by the beach get high
All I wanna do is get by by the beach
Get by baby, baby, bye bye
The truth is I never bought into your bullshit
When you would pay tribute to me
'Cause I know that
All I wanted to do was get high by the beach
Get high baby, baby, bye bye

Boy look at you looking at me
I know you don't understand
You could be a bad motherfucker
But that don't make you a man
Now you're just another one of my problems
Because you got out of hand
We won't survive we're sinking into the sand

All I wanna do is get high by the beach
Get high by the beach get high
All I wanna do is get by by the beach
Get by baby, baby, bye bye
The truth is I never bought into your bullshit
When you would pay tribute to me
'Cause I know that
All I wanted to do was get high by the beach
Get high baby, baby, bye bye

Lights, camera, acción
I'll do it on my own
Don't need your money, money
To get me what I want
Lights, camera, acción
I'll do it on my own
Don't need your money, money
To get me what I want

All I wanna do is get high by the beach
Get high by the beach, get high
All I wanna do is get by by the beach
Get by baby, baby, bye bye
The truth is I never bought into your bullshit
When you would pay tribute to me
'Cause I know that
All I wanted to do was get high by the beach
Get high baby, baby, bye bye

High-igh-igh-igh-igh-igh-igh-igh-igh
High-igh-igh-igh-igh-igh
High-igh-igh-igh-igh-igh-igh
High-igh-igh-igh-igh-igh-igh-igh

Everyone can start again
Not through love but through revenge
Through the fire, we're born again
Peace by vengeance
Brings the end

    My Interpretation

I think this song is guised under a boy but I think shes talking about a love/hate relationship of being visible and in the public eye being spyed on and in a sense she is exposed and has no freedom to what her binding is. It could be anything but its bigger than her, and we see this in the helicopter and getting the torpedo to blow up the helicopter that's invasive and invading her privacy. I think she is talking about some expense at something bigger than her that promises are given, but at the expense of her own personal freedom or rights or money in and of itself, ultimately we see the imagery points to not worth it. She wants it all to wash away, this contractual dichotomy that juxtaposes imagery conducive to freedom vs. limitations , and makes you think if there is a cost to freedom and to what expense is it worth fighting back? or fighting for to regain? ...hence the water putting her secrets out there in the open ocean as per the newspapers and documents upon explosion of helicopter, ergo she mentions not through love, but through revenge. peace vs. vengeance raises concern over guilt or thinking this compromise isn't all its worth. fire is transformative ...fire and water cancel each other out. In the fire, you can fight back against the beast if you have the courage to summon your inner strength and value your freedom of the most intimate and humble things she just begs for which is solely to get high on the beach ...something so seemingly innocuous yet so exaggeratedly relating to basic freedoms and rights to just be and be left alone, as suggested by the not furnished empty and transparent hideout by the beach she has ...hence her wish seems seemingly so impossible?? It makes you think about what she really could be inferring although I don't think its about a boy but something beyond paparazzi, fame, publicity...certainly something more invasive and bigger than she alone.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

No Surprises

Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
