"Soap" as written by Melanie Martinez, Emily Warren and Kyle Shearer....
Think I just remembered something
I think I left the faucet running
Now my words are filling up the tub
Darling, you're just soaking in it
But I know you'll get out the minute
You notice all your fingers pruning up

I'm tired of being careful, gentle, trying to keep the water warm
Let me under your skin
Uh-oh, there it goes, I said too much, it overflowed
Why do I always spill?

I feel it coming out my throat
Guess I better wash my mouth out with soap
God, I wish I never spoke
Now I gotta wash my mouth out with soap

I feel it coming out my throat
Guess I better wash my mouth out with soap
God, I wish I'd never spoke
Now I gotta wash my mouth out with soap

Think I got myself in trouble
So I fill the bath with bubbles
Then I'll put the towels all away
Should've never said the word "love"
Threw a toaster in the bathtub
I'm sick of all the games I have to play

I'm tired of being careful, gentle, trying to keep the water warm
Let me under your skin
Uh-oh, there it goes, I said too much, it overflowed
Why do I always spill?

I feel it coming out my throat
Guess I better wash my mouth out with soap
God, I wish I never spoke
Now I gotta wash my mouth out with soap

I feel it coming out my throat
Guess I better wash my mouth out with soap
God, I wish I'd never spoke
Now I gotta wash my mouth out with soap

I feel it coming out my throat
Guess I better wash my mouth out with soap
God, I wish I never spoke
Now I gotta wash my mouth out with soap

I feel it coming out my throat
Guess I better wash my mouth out with soap
God, I wish I'd never spoke
Now I gotta wash my mouth out with soap

General CommentIsn't the lyrics "I'm tired of being careful, tiptoe, trying to keep the water warm"?

General CommentThis song is about messing up and having a crush. She likes a boy and may have told him, she wishes she could take back what she said. She just wants him to look at her the way she looks at him. With love.

General CommentThis song is an anthem for people with social anxiety. She is worried about saying things to people and them taking it the wrong way. She's also scared of saying too much.

My Interpretationshe told someone that she loves them. continues to open herself up to them (Now my words are filling up the tub). She has to keep the love feelings and say the right things (I'm tired of being careful, gentle, keeping the water warm) but its too much. they bail on her when it becomes too much (fingers pruning). she regrets saying those words (God, I wish I never spoke). washing her mouth out with soap, like the old days when parents would put a bar of soap in the childs mouth so they DIDNT say those "bad" words again, or in this case, say "Love". it was a one sided relationship
