Pretty girl with the butterscotch hair
Your eyes and the sunshine smile you wear
I can see how you make his soul glow

Pretty girl with the adventurous mind
you envision so much you make me look blind
You spark his life in ways I'll never know

I won't hate you
but oh it stings
how does it feel
to be adored by him

pretty girl there's no need to fret
Cause it's midnight, he's drunk and you're the one in his head
You don't even have to try at all.

pretty girl oh he looks at you
as if life is perfect cause the world is new
In those moments I just feel so small.

I won't hate you
but oh it stings
how does it feel
to be adored by him

how stupid to think
that I could compare
to the pretty girl
with the butterscotch hair

    My Interpretation

    Simple one but great message.

Not just accepting that the person you want, loves someone else but also being able to understand and compliment that persons qualities

"Your eyes and the sunshine smile you wear I can see how you make his soul glow"

"Pretty girl with the adventurous mind you envision so much you make me look blind You spark his life in ways I'll never know"

Not sure most people could genuinely do this but I think this shows her respect for him as well as complimenting her. Rather than being bitchy and putting her down and trying to make him change his mind, she's explaining that he has seen something good, a person with qualities.

"pretty girl there's no need to fret Cause it's midnight, he's drunk and you're the one in his head You don't even have to try at all"

This makes me think perhaps she's his friend, maybe a close friend, and is reassuring the other girl that she's not a threat. Admitting to her that maybe they're together one night, he's drunk, but she's the one on his mind.

I think this part again, although most wouldn't do it, is touching because she admits how much it hurts, but still finds the strength to let him follow his heart and not selfishly try to get what she wants regardless of morality.

"I won't hate you but oh it stings how does it feel to be adored by him"

This part is kinda sad because I see it as undermining herself. Like she sees the other girl as having so much more to offer, more special than she is. She lights his world up and it makes her feel like it's because she's somehow better. In reality, the heart wants what it wants. It doesn't analyse and question like the mind. There is no debate.

"pretty girl oh he looks at you as if life is perfect cause the world is new In those moments I just feel so small"

I think we all though, take things personally and look at "why we weren't good enough" rather than accept that what's meant to be, should and will be.

The last verse is same as above...although she can be strong enough to let them be, she still puts herself down and believes it's because the other girl is better than her. In reality, there is no competing. If two people REALLY love each other, no one can come between that. Competing is going to hurt you and cause unnecessary animosity.

"how stupid to think that I could compare to the pretty girl with the butterscotch hair"

Great song and powerful messages. Be yourself, love your qualities and if you REALLY love someone, find the strength from somewhere, anywhere to let them be happy even if that means not having them in your life in the way you'd like.

Holiday

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
