"The Hills" as written by Ahmad Balshe, Abel Tesfaye, Stephan Moccio and Jason Quenneville....
Your man on the road, he doin' promo
You said, "Keep our business on the low-low"
I'm just tryna get you out the friend zone
'Cause you look even better than the photos
I can't find your house, send me the info
Drivin' through the gated residential
Found out I was comin', sent your friends home
Keep on tryna hide it but your friends know

I only call you when it's half past five
The only time that I'll be by your side
I only love it when you touch me, not feel me
When I'm fucked up, that's the real me
When I'm fucked up, that's the real me, yeah
I only fuck you when it's half past five
The only time I'd ever call you mine
I only love it when you touch me, not feel me
When I'm fucked up, that's the real me
When I'm fucked up, that's the real me, babe

I'mma let you know and keep it simple
Tryna keep it up don't seem so simple
I just fucked two bitches 'fore I saw you
And you gon' have to do it at my tempo
Always tryna send me off to rehab
Drugs started feelin' like it's decaf
I'm just tryna live life for the moment
And all these motherfuckers want a relapse

I only call you when it's half past five
The only time that I'll be by your side
I only love it when you touch me, not feel me
When I'm fucked up, that's the real me
When I'm fucked up, that's the real me, yeah
I only fuck you when it's half past five
The only time I'd ever call you mine
I only love it when you touch me, not feel me
When I'm fucked up, that's the real me
When I'm fucked up, that's the real me, babe

Hills have eyes, the hills have eyes
Who are you to judge, who are you to judge?
Hide your lies, girl, hide your lies
Only you to trust, only you

I only call you when it's half past five
The only time that I'll be by your side
I only love it when you touch me, not feel me
When I'm fucked up, that's the real me
When I'm fucked up, that's the real me, yeah
I only fuck you when it's half past five
The only time I'd ever call you mine
I only love it when you touch me, not feel me
When I'm fucked up, that's the real me
When I'm fucked up, that's the real me, babe

Ewedihalehu
Yene konjo, ewedihalehu
Yene fikir, fikir, fikir, fikir
Yene fikir, fikir, fikir, fikir

General CommentThe last bit is Amharic, a language spoken in Ethiopia. "Ewedishalehu" means “I love you very much”, "yene fikir" means “my love”, and "yene konjo" means "my beautiful".

General CommentI think it's about a married woman who he's sleeping with. So he only sees her at a specific time when her husband is on the road. That's why half past five is the only time he can ever call her his. I think he legitimately wants to be with her but she's married so he can't. So he abuses drugs to ease the pain but she wants him to get off because she cares about him. What you think?

General CommentI think the song is about him loving a girl, but also doing drugs together with the girl. The opening 'your man on the road' would be her dealer, the 'business on the low-low' would refer to the secracy of drug transactions. Then she wants to keep the relationship and the drugs hidden from her friends. The main theme is about them getting high and loving each other late at night. Im not sure what the hills have eyes part is about, maybe about how society would look down upon them and they have to keep it hidden from everyone (lie about it)
I'd love to hear other peoples opinions about this songs since some parts are a little vague.

General CommentHe's talking about doing a drug deal in the beginning. "Keep our business on the low low" Cocaine has been commonly referred to "White Girl".

He's talking about cocaine like it's his relationship. Half past five, anytime, really--he's using.

I feel like he's sort of arguing with himself and his drug dependence. It's as though he wants control over it, but he ultimately has none whatsoever. "When I'm f***** up, that's the real me"--the only time he feels good is when he's high.

He's become completely tolerant of it, "Starting to feel like decaf". If you watch the legitimate official music video, it shows a car wreck in the background that he just walked from: his life is a wreck from this drug, and the chick screaming next to him is the drug's constant nagging to give him his next high (withdrawal).

Toward the end of the video--he visits his sadistic looking drug dealer for more. Cycle repeats.

This song is interesting to me and incredibly sad. How lonely he must be.
