"I Won't Give In" as written by and Cameron Liddell Ben Bruce....
Every breath you take
I watch you slip away
You're slowly killing yourself
Every breath you take
I watch you slip away
You're slowly killing yourself
I won't give in

If my heart could sing, would you stay?
Would you stay and listen?
Would you stay and listen?

If my soul was torn, would you help?
Would you try and fix me?
Would you help un-break me?

Your smile, it eats me alive
And I can't turn away any longer

Every breath you take
I watch you slip away
You're slowly killing yourself
I won't give in

Every breath you take
I watch you slip away
You're slowly killing yourself
I won't give in

I'm a ghost of what's left of me
Begging you to hear me
Can you even feel me?

I can't let you go, save me please
Will you stay here with me?
Will you ever leave me?

Your smile it eats me alive
I can't turn away any longer

Every breath you take
I watch you slip away
You're slowly killing yourself
I won't give in

Every breath you take
I watch you slip away
You're slowly killing yourself
I won't give in

I gave you everything
I never thought we would end up like this
I gave you everything
I can't let you go, save me please

I gave you everything
I won't give in
I gave you everything
I wont give in

Every breath you take
I watch you slip away
You're slowly killing yourself

I'll be your light in the darkness
Every breath you take
I watch you slip away
You're slowly killing yourself
I won't give in

Every breath you take
I watch you slip away
You're slowly killing yourself
I won't give in

I gave you everything
I never thought we would end up like this

My InterpretationAlthough I think the song could be about a broken relationship, I feel it's more so about the unspoken communication between God and a person struggling to get through life. I feel as if the main chorus is God speaking to the person.. "Every breath you take, I watch you slip away.." They feel as if God has left them and see no hope. "If my soul was torn would you help? Would you try and fix me?"

Just my interpretation! But great song regardless!

General CommentI feel that this song is representative of when Danny left Asking. I can just picture the members seeing Danny loose interest with asking shown in the lyrics; "every breath you take it watch you slip away..."

But it could also link to the Reckless and Relentless cycle the band went through. This was a dark time for them as they were doing a lot of drugs and drinking heavily and nearly died. With the lyrics "you're slowly killing your self, I won't give in." This could symbolise the band not wanting to give up. They could have used these lyrics to show the journey they made from R&R to 'from Death to destiny' where they went from the death of the band to their destiny.

I feel that the words 'I won't give in' are also significant to Denis joining the band as it could represent his love of the band (as he was a fan prior to joining) and that he's trying to say to the fans that he won't give up on this band the way through former singer had done.

Overall the song to me is representative of Danny leaving and Denis joining if you look at the song with the that frame of mind you'll be able to see what I mean. I can see this in the first verse; "If my heart could sing would you stay?". I think this is representative of Denis in a way that he's asking the fans if he can sing from his heart and put his Soul into his work then will you still stay loyal to the band and continue being a fan?

The second verse representing Dends again as he's still a dressing the fans saying don't let me go through what Danny went through.

I look at the song closer now and I see that the verses represent Denis and the chorus represents Danny. When it says "I'm the ghost of what's left of me" it's showing me that it's connected to Denis because when he was in a previous band called Make Me Famous, he was very arrogant and rude and thats the main reason why the band split and now that he's joined asking her has calmed down a lot and is extremely shy (as you can see in interviews , he doesn't speak much) this is showing me that he's not the same person that he used to be and that he's changed.

Now these are my personal opinions and if you don't see the so good in this way then that's fine, this is merely how I perceive it.
