"The Shade" as written by Anthony David Broderick, Aaron Lee Duggins, Anthony J Duggins, Clayton Allen Hansen, Rebecca Brooke Manthe, Michael Pawula and Patrick Daniel Shaw....
I'm following the sun
That's setting in the West
We're floating on a bed of fading lights

A canopy of trees
Bears witness to the breeze
I'm falling like a feather, soft and light

Baby, there's no better time
No better time, baby, we can't find
Oh-whoa-whoa, oh-whoa-whoa

With eternal love, the stars above
All there is and ever was
I want it all, I want it all
I want it all, I want it all
A blade of grass, a grain of sand
The moonlit sea, to hold your hand
I want it all, I want it all
I want it all, I want it all

The embers of a fire still burning as they die
Stay bright to keep us side by side

Baby, there's no better time
No better time, baby, we can't find
Oh-whoa-whoa, oh-whoa-whoa

With eternal love, the stars above
All there is and ever was
I want it all, I want it all
I want it all, I want it all
A blade of grass, a grain of sand
The moonlit sea, to hold your hand
I want it all, I want it all
I want it all, I want it all

With eternal love, the stars above
All there is and ever was
I want it all, I want it all
I want it all, I want it all
A blade of grass, a grain of sand
The moonlit sea, to hold your hand
I want it all, I want it all
I want it all, I want it all

We got the sunshine
We got the shade
We got temptation
We got it made
We got rewarded
We got refused
We got distorted
We got confused
We got the sunshine
We got the shade
I want it all, I want it all
I want it all, I want it all

With eternal love, the stars above
All there is and ever was
I want it all, I want it all
I want it all, I want it all
A blade of grass, a grain of sand
The moonlit sea, to hold your hand
I want it all, I want it all
I want it all, I want it all

With eternal love, the stars above
All there is and ever was
I want it all, I want it all
I want it all, I want it all
A blade of grass, a grain of sand
The moonlit sea, to hold your hand
I want it all, I want it all
I want it all, I want it all

General CommentI feel like this is a song about commitment to another person and the desire to have everything that comes with that commitment. The wonderful thing about metric is that it could be about something else entirely but is applicable to a bunch of different things. Such a great song by such an amazing group, I cannot wait for their new album.

Song MeaningThis song is an anthem to bravery, to life, to rediscovering that simple principle we all learn as toddlers but forget along the way, buried in the fear - "I want". Here's what Emily had to say about this one:

"I wrote and sang this song at Oscilloscope Labs in NY in one day. When you feel yourself becoming a coward, the best thing to do is force yourself to get out of bed and be willing to feel everything, including rejection and confusion, all over again. Bring it on haters."
