I'm a goner
Somebody catch my breath
I'm a goner
Somebody catch my breath
I wanna be known by you
I wanna be known by you

I'm a goner
Somebody catch my breath
I'm a goner
Somebody catch my breath
I wanna be known by you
I wanna be known by you

Though I'm weak
Beaten down
I'll slip away
Into the sound
The ghost of you
Is close to me
I'm inside out
You're underneath

I've got two faces
Blurry's the one I'm not
I've got two faces
Blurry's the one I'm not
I need your help to
Take him out
I need your help to
Take him out

Though I'm weak
And beaten down
I'll slip away
Into the sound
The ghost of you
Is close to me
I'm inside out
You're underneath

Though I'm weak
And beaten down
I'll slip away
Into the sound
The ghost of you
Is close to me
I'm inside out
You're underneath

Don't let me be gone
Don't let me be gone
Don't let me be gone
Don't let me be gone

Don't let me be!
Don't let me be!

Ah
Yeah

I'm a goner
Somebody catch my breath
I'm a goner
Somebody catch my breath
I wanna be known by you
I wanna be known by you

    My Interpretation

This song is from the point of view of both Tyler and blurryface. The first being blurry. He's talking about how he's a goner and being defeated, but he wants to have attention, yet he's dying and Tyler is ruling. When Tyler says 'I've got two faces, blurrys the one im not' is Tyler taking control telling everyone how he can have turns when blurry is in power, but that's not him, just a part. 'I need your help to take him out ' is him asking for the cliques help to keep him out and battle him together. 'Don't let me be gone' is again Blurryface. The screams especially showing how mad he is and how he is losing control, but the last 'you' being quiet shows how Tyler has won and Blurryface has been defeated for the time being.

    Song Meaning

"The end of this song (Goner) is the beginning of Heavydirtysoul, it's because that distorted scream you hear is actually Blurryface. In this song, Tyler (the guy who sings) is giving up and letting Blurryface win, which is why you hear a noose throughout the song. He's given up. And in the end, Blurryface wins. But then it actually continues to Heavydirtysoul, the first song on the Blurryface album. In this song, it picks up with where it left off. Blurryface is very loud, Tyler is praying for help, for Someone to save his soul. His fear of death inspires him to keep fighting Blurryface. Then it continues throughout the entire album, like a story about him fighting against his Blurryface. And in the end, the last song in the album, it's the new version of this song. He's determined to fight Blurryface once again, and it's evident he's much stronger than he was. During the buildup part of the song, you can hear a faint Blurryface scream, it gets louder and louder, until Tyler screams "DONT LET ME BE--!!!" and the battle begins. Very loud banging, Blurryface is screaming again, but now Tyler literally screams back. And in the end... Tyler screams "I WANNA BE KNOWN BY... You." And as soon as he says "You," Blurryface stops. The banging stops. It goes silent because Tyler won. He finally beat Blurryface, and that's the end of the entire album."

This song is definitely a cry to God. The way I interpret it is that he feels himself slipping away from God and doesn't want to drift away into sin and hatred. The lyrics "dont let me be gone" are a plead to God asking for Him

    My Interpretation

**First off I will say that I'm a Christian but I tried to explain it in more secular terms but it is difficult for me to. I hope I don't offend. Just a heads up if you don't want to start reading because of that.

"I'm a goner / Somebody catch my breath"

I heard from a friend that he read that Josh said that this whole album had to do with his insecurities. When he says that he's a "goner" I think he means that he's lost in his insecurities, kind of suffocating in the things people say about him that he can't change. He's basically crying out for help from anyone.

"I wanna be known by you"

This could mean he wants to be known more by the people who help him out and not who he is, because he can't get over his insecurities without help and who he is isn't who he wants to be. you could take it that it's being known by Him because it's what makes him secure, not his identity that has in the first place made him insecure. Or it could be singing to those friends who get you through those times where it seems impossible and you just feel like a goner.

"Though I'm weak / And beaten down / I'll slip away into this sound"

Even though I've got not much in me I'll slip into a state of need or reach out for help. I feel like we often think we need to do things on our own because it makes us stronger and it's harder to say you need help but he's still gonna "slip away into the sound" of crying out.

"The ghost of you is close to me / I'm inside out / You're underneath"

I honestly sorry. I don't know how else to explain it but in terms of spirituality, saying the holy ghost is close relationship-wise to him and he is vulnerable to the ghost and the ghost is underneath or in him. If anyone can explain that in more secular terms it might make more sense to more people.

"I’ve got two faces / Blurry’s the one I’m not / … / I need your help to take him out"

The first lines pretty clear, metaphorically he has two faces, he's kind of a hypocrite. One's just blurry and isn't clear, not right, and that's who he's not. He needs anyones help to get rid of the "blurry face".

    "Don't let me be gone"

He's crying out to anyone to not let him just be gone, die, inside or maybe even literally suicidal.

    Any other interpretations?

I honestly think that this is somehow a prayer to God. And about all their songs, I think they're a bit harder to understand if you're not Christian, but that's probably just me. Anyway, "Somebody catch my breath" I feel like that's a way of Tyler saying to God, to help him. "I'm a goner" Tyler probably feels alone like nobody cares about him, or just needs someone. (I know he has Jenna and Josh, but I also think that since he wrote this when he was 17, he still feels the same or wanted to make the song better) "Don't let me be gone" I think that's his way of saying that through all of his suicidal thoughts, his struggles, and everything that he's gone through that even through those times, he still has so much faith and he doesn't want to run out of it and he wants someone, (most likely God) to make sure he doesn't fall apart at the seams. I feel like March To The Sea has a bit of the same meaning with, "Follow me instead" which is what I feel Tyler knows that he shouldn't give in to his thoughts and end it all, but to follow God's ways. Again, this is just my thoughts. And, isn't crazy how the littlest line or verse can say so much?

    My Interpretation

It's most definitely a cry out to God (at the end it's quite literal). I think he believes his sinful side (Blurry) has doomed him, making him a goner and caused him to slip further away from God.

In the second verse he starts blaming Blurry saying that he's the side of him that's doing all the wrong but that that's not truly how he is, that's not what he wants.

Blurry makes him feel inside out and when Blurry is in charge, Blurry is on top, it seems that nothing can stop him. Tyler feels lost and hopeless. He feels that God might only see Blurry and what Blurry does but doesn't know the true Tyler anymore and that makes him feel like he'll soon be gone if he doesn't defeat Blurry.

It seems a lot that this is kinda Tyler's way of repenting, crying out for forgiveness (he makes it very clear that he is religious in and outside of his music).

    My Interpretation

my interpretation is that, it's about an unrequited love that he is holding on to. he has nothing with out this love. but the person doesn't even know him. his insecurities are taking him over, and the love is the only thing he can hold on to without being totally overwhelmed in his mind. he wants to be free from his other side and maybe suicidal thoughts. he wants this love and to be known. he knows this love is the only thing he has. without the person he is a goner.

    My Interpretation

I think the worlds only explanation for most of the things that Tyler writes about in his songs is to assume he is schizo. Its nice how he keeps mentioning in songs how these lyrics aren't for everyone. Unless he has come out and said this is a disorder he has and I missed it then I am sticking to the belief that "blurry" is not (Tyler side # 2) Its a BATTLE against good and evil. Flesh and spirit. He needs help crucifying the flesh "Take him out".

    My Interpretation

This song, at least in my opinion, is very loose in its meaning. It is about depression, but with no clear source. It's written purposefully ambiguous so that it can fit to anyone. For some it's about God, for others it's insecurities, and for some it's about a spurned love. I think that's the beauty of the song. It can be about anything.

    My Opinion

i think this song is about him trying to defeat the bad part about himself, blurryface. And it can also be something about escaping his sins to god.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
