I have spent so many nights in your arms
so many nights I begged for demons to let go of me
I have spent so many nights in your bed
so many nights of lust
Like bonfires keeping them out
Those fools!

Maybe this spacecraft will take us to the moon
evil night visitors, they're now gone for good
'cause we smashed you all
as we took off

I have pictured you in my head
fighting your way through cobwebs,
vampires craving for food

demons tracking me down for so long
I wanna see their heads chopped,
hearts stabbed, and blood spilled for good
will you?

maybe this spacecraft will fly us to the moon
evil night visitors you can go to hell
'cause we smashed you all
we smashed you all
we smashed you all
we smashed you all
we smashed you all
we smashed you all
we smashed you all
we crushed you all
we smashed you all
as we took off

    My Interpretation

This song, to me, is obviously about a girl with a few "bugs in the attic" or in this case : demons & vampires. She has found a way to fend them off, from attacking her sanity or internal integrity by using the sacred means of lovemaking with a man who plays the savior and who takes on the brunt of the effect these demons have on her.

The act of lovemaking does indeed plunge one into bliss and most importantly, the present moment where "vampires & demons" have no hold. So of course she is fond of this method of escaping their grasp yet she doesn't realize that she cannot ask of another to forever help her "stab and chop their heads off". She must one day face them and take them head on (or off in this case)

I love the use of the metaphor of the spacecraft as "moksha" (spiritual liberation). Here is an excerpt of a text explaining the link between this song and tantra :

""In addition, practice of tantra is known for its magical techniques, which may be applied only taking into consideration many laws. A real practitioner of tantra uses them in extremely rare and very necessary cases, but any practitioner has to know the theory of these processes. This shat-karma (six magic rituals): shanti-karma which forming of peace and tranquility in the social environment, stambhana is the power of stopping or paralyzing others negative actions, uchchatana is the power of conjuring away lower spirits, vidveshana is the power of stirring up the hostility between two personalities and marana is the power of killing an enemy. However, a practitioner of tantra will never use such karma as marana or vidveshana, except as his relatives are threatened by violence and there is no alternative to stop asuric person. True practitioner of tantra knows the nature of these phenomena, but did not use them, because he has bhakti (devotion to divinities) and so is under the patronage of Ishtadeva. Therefore, the correct goal in tantra is, first of all, bhakti and God-realization. Divya-marga means purity of motivation, which is important both in yogic and tantric sadhanas.""

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
