|| Nicholson is spending his last days in a hospital. Things are different than his dad, though, because he's not alone. His family surrounds him: his wife, his son and his grandchildren… all by his side as he moves on. ||
It's winter now. We find Jordan arriving at his dad's home. This isn't a visit Jordan could have ever prepared for; it's the final visit. Jordan knows it. Today he says goodbye. Nicholson sees his son walk in and he finds strength to smile as his loved ones surround him at this dark crossroad of life. He’s ready to let go.
Everyone's here for the big moment. The respirator is coming off. The nurse quiets the beeping and shuffles to the other room. Nicholson feels the struggle.
He feels his son’s hand grab his and holds tightly. There's nothing greater a father can feel than the unconditional love of his son. With reality fading, Nicholson's last thoughts are memories of thankfulness and contentment.
He takes his final breath and lets his life fall beneath him. It's over; the struggle is finished.
