[00:00]
The memories are getting more vivid. The fog is clearing and Nicholson is terrified. His time at home is done and now he's traveling back to his "home." It's a dark feeling when he realizes it's more than just a city he's leaving. He's shedding his memories and stepping out of his past. There's pain.

Nicholson remembers the day his father died. He'd been sick for months and Nicholson found himself resenting him for it. He often thought about how selfish people are. Don't they know he has his own life to live? Finally, he remembers the day he visited his dad in the hospital. What a dreadful day that turned out to be. He walked the hallways in a daze while he wondered what he could even say when he arrived. They'd never bonded. They'd never shared laughs; they'd only shared their dislike of one another. He hesitated to open the door several times and finally decided to break the barrier. What a mistake.
[02:13]
He walks in to see his dad writhing in pain as the nurses try to calm him. He pushes them away as he gasps for air and clenches on to the bed sheets as the pain overtakes him.
[02:50]
He gives it all he's got in a final battle for revival. Gasping for life, he holds dearly to his memories and looks over at Nicholson with a fear-filled gaze.
[03:06]
Finally: silence. His dad is gone. Nicholson stands there without saying a word. Solemnly standing feet away from his dad, his blood. And he is completely helpless. His dad is still, and so is Nicholson.

He walks out. The course of his life will be changed forever and he can't shake the idea that he's failed. He knows he must live life but it seems so unnecessary. Life is a grind. When those around us leave, we feel empty. We feel exhausted. We feel helpless. And then we stop feeling.
