A shadow in these walls, yeah that is all I am
A prison deep under fortress grounds where they spill the blood of man
A second chance at life is all I've dreamed of
For now inside these walls I stay.
Sitting far away I watch the blackness grow
(Nevermind what is underneath the stone)
(It's a life that we're living all alone)
Step out in the rain and feel the deep sorrow
(Light is calling from the narrow road)
Sometimes kindness speaks in tongues with one of them
I can see love in her eyes
And if I fall death will never stain one of his hands
I find safety in these lies.
A second chance at life is all I've dreamed of
For now inside these walls I stay
Sitting far away I watch the blackness grow
(Nevermind what is underneath the stone)
(This life we live alone)
Step out in the rain and feel the deep sorrow
(Light is calling from the narrow road)
The chains are part of me
Stale air is all I breathe down here
I need to find a way
I've gotta find my way far from me
Another chance at life is fading slowly
Upon the cross I bleed
Sitting far away I watch the blackness grow
(Nevermind what is underneath the stone)
(This life we live alone)
Step out in the rain and feel the deep sorrow
(Light is calling from the narrow road)
Sitting far away I watch the blackness grow
Nevermind what is underneath the stone, we live alone
Step out in the rain to feel the deep sorrow
Light is calling from the narrow road

i love the part after the first chorus.

Sometimes kindness speaks in tongues with one of them I can see love in her eyes And if I fall death will never stain one of his hands I find safety in these lives

the subject we should understand first is what does "her" and "his" referred to?

    here's my interpretation

"her" is i think refer to Mother Nature, to me that translate to surrounding, so to put it in context: The protagonist saw something "beautiful" in nature( maybe kindness of others or something in that particular) and thought that maybe there's still hope in life, then in that same moment his mind reflect all the wrong doing and bad things he have done. "And if I fall death will never stain one of his hands " . "His" i think refer to God himself.

"if I fall death will never stain one of his hands "as if even if he dies, the God wouldn't care because he's sinful ( maybe they use the hindu's concept of God since hindu portrayed God having many hands ) and that translates to: He couldn't find solace as his past haunted him which prevented him to proceed in life along with having any thoughts about hope.

lastly the part "i find safety in these lies" could mean that, he knew there's still chance in life but due to his past that's haunted him, he chose to stay in his current state which is wallowing in his own sadness and failure in life because he's afraid he's going to fail again.

btw sorry for poor explanation, english is not my main language.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
