She's been my queen
Since we were sixteen
We want the same things
We dream the same dreams
Alright, alright

I got it all
'Cause she is the one
Her mum calls me love
Her dad calls me son
Alright, alright

I know, I know, I know for sure

Everybody wanna steal my girl
Everybody wanna take her heart away
Couple billion in the whole wide world
Find another one 'cause she belongs to me

Everybody wanna steal my girl
Everybody wanna take her heart away
Couple billion in the whole wide world
Find another one 'cause she belongs to me

Na na na na na na (oh, yeah)
Na na na na na na (alright)
Na na na na na na
Na na, she belongs to me

Kisses like cream
Her walk is so mean
And every jaw drop
When she's in those jeans
Alright, alright

I don't exist
If I don't have her
The sun doesn't shine
The world doesn't turn
Alright, alright

But I know, I know, I know for sure

Everybody wanna steal my girl
Everybody wanna take her heart away
Couple billion in the whole wide world
Find another one 'cause she belongs to me

Everybody wanna steal my girl
Everybody wanna take her heart away
Couple billion in the whole wide world
Find another one 'cause she belongs to me

Na na na na na na (oh, yeah)
Na na na na na na (alright)
Na na na na na na
Na na na na na na

She knows, she knows
That I never let her down before
She knows, she knows
That I'm never gonna let another take her love from me now

Everybody wants to steal my girl
Everybody wants to take her love away
Couple billion in the whole wide world
Well, find another one 'cause she belongs to me

Everybody wanna steal my girl
Everybody wanna take her heart away
Couple billion in the whole wide world
Find another one 'cause she belongs to me (oh, yeah)

Na na na na na na (oh yeah, alright, yeah)
Na na na na na na (alright)
Na na na na na na
Na na, she belongs to me

Na na na na na na (she belongs to me, yeah) (oh yeah)
Na na na na na na (alright)
Na na na na na na

She belongs to me

    My Interpretation

"She’s been my queen since we were sixteen"- there's no way this isn't pointing to the formation: 3 members were 16 at the time of formation "Everybody wanna steal my girl Everybody wanna take her heart away Couple billion in the whole wide world Find another one ‘cause she belongs to me"- possible reference to fandom notion of "our girls, the boys" original notion of fandom integrity, the fandom stays together, "we're a family". It is also possible that this refers to what used to be fear of Directioners, and fear of the One Direction fandom expressed by many rivals which has since died down after the introduction of support act 5sos and subsequent loss of momentum. "whole wide world" wouldn't refer to small scale love story if it's world wide; therefore it most likely refers to fandom and the stealing of fans as opposed to love story "girl" "I don’t exist if I don’t have her"- interdependence; once again, notion as expressed various times when receiving awards "wouldn't be here if it weren't for the fans", "owe it to the fans" "She knows, she knows that I never let her down before She knows, she knows that I’m never gonna let another take her love from me now!"- "never let her down" reference to saving fans from depression; "she knows"- indirect "I know her well" "Well find another one 'cause she belongs to me" (Zayn ad lib)- "go find your own fans, they're mine" "Na na na na na"- old style influenced tune, XFactor performances? Composed and written by band members, from the heart?

    My Interpretation

This whole song is like a love story, how the person who is saying that everyone is going to "steal his girl", but in the end the only one that really knows her is him. "She’s been my queen since we were sixteen We want the same things We dream the same dreams" They've known each other since they were teenagers, growing up together and that they were presumably best friends since they have things in common. "Her mum calls me ‘love’; her dad calls me ‘son’" He literally has the get-go from her parents to say like, yeah she's all yours man. "Everybody wanna steal my girl Everybody wanna take her heart away Couple billion in the whole wide world Find another one ‘cause she belongs to me" He is announcing to the world that his "girl" is all his and no one can have her but him. "Kisses like queen, her walk is so mean And every jaw drop when she’s in those jeans" Now we now that they are together and that they are a couple in a relationship. "I don’t exist if I don’t have her The sun doesn't shine, the world doesn't turn" He is saying his day is depressing when he isn't with her and that she lights up his day, or his life when they are together. And basically they go through the song saying like, she's all mine, you can't have her and she knows i'm loyal to her and won't let her down.

Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
