Has anything like this ever struck you?
If ever a likeness had you scraping for pockets of air?
Whatever you like when you came in
Whatever you use
Whatever you choose
Whatever your acronym.

Decide if either you're out or you're in
On your own
They say that either you're out or you'll swim
On your own

You started what would sound like a speech on how you moved around
You told them all so well, I had them memorized
You bored us all to tears but here's the ground and there's your feet
And never the two shall meet

Has anything like this ever struck you?
If ever a likeness had you scraping for pockets of air?
Whatever you like when you came in
Whatever you use
Whatever you choose
Whatever your acronym

Decide that either you're out or you're in
On your own
Decide that either you're out or you'll swim
On your own

What have we started, what became
Don’t get found out again
What have we started, what remained
You saved our lives again

Decide that either you're out or you're in
On your own
Decide that either you're out or you'll swim
On your own

Don’t get found out again

My InterpretationI think this song is about those that find fame, or as this fits into the story of life is strange, the pretentious teens who assume the authority of status through the social club vortex, as this song plays during the party scene at the school pool. The bridge tells all, how some people make us climb the walls with their aura, how they just grate the nerves with their arrogance, and bore us to death with their superficial front. But i also think it is the frustration of the artist meeting people like this in the entertainment business, where superficial traits are lauded and propped up at the expense of some really deep and talented songwriting. So everyone famous starts to look a lot like the members of the vortex club, not down to earth, snobbish, and reaking of self centered airs. They have not grown out of their adolescent need for attention grabbing, and have not grown artistically to the point of dispensing wisdom, they are just on the surface, shallow, fake.
