"Stay" as written by and Hatter/johnson/hollier....
Wake up, wake up
Wake up, wake up

Wake up, get dressed
Don't pack your things, don't call your friends,
"Be quick", she said
Leave your glass by the bed
Leave your keys on the desk
And leave

You just have to go away
Nothing I could do to make it change
Got so much to say and

There ain't nothing I could do to make you stay
There ain't nothing I could do to make you stay
There ain't nothing I could do to make you stay
There ain't nothing I could do to make you stay
There ain't nothing I could do to make you
Stay with me always
And we'll drink to forget
That you're not the one

Wake up, wake up
I can't read, I can't write
I can't watch TV, I can't sleep at night
But you shine so bright
You can't hide your smile even for one night or day
And I wouldn't have it any other way and

There ain't nothing I could do to make you stay
There ain't nothing I could do to make you stay
There ain't nothing I could do to make you stay
There ain't nothing I could do to make you stay
There ain't nothing I could do to make you
Stay with me always
Fall asleep and forget
That you're not the one, that you're not the one, that you're not the one

There ain't nothing I could do to make you stay
There ain't nothing I could do to make you stay
There ain't nothing I could do to make you stay
There ain't nothing I could do to make you stay
There ain't nothing I could do

There ain't nothing I could do to make you stay
There ain't nothing I could do to make you stay
There ain't nothing I could do to make you stay
There ain't nothing I could do to make you stay
There ain't nothing I could do to make you
Stay with me always
Fall asleep and forget that you're not the one

There ain't nothing I could do to make you stay

General CommentI think the meaning comes through pretty clear and its about him being broken up with all of a sudden and he can't get over her.

General CommentEssentially on the surface this seems like a song for a girl or something.

But I think it's about Ian and about how the rest of the band want him to stay in the band, to stay in his hometown, to stay in his home, to stay with them, to stay sane, to stay the man they grew up with, hell to stay normal.
And after everything he's done they can't keep him the man they once knew, and they can't keep him with them because he's already gone.

They second verse could be about how they try to get on with their lift but they can't, because they are haunted by what he has done.

Don't get me wrong I love this song, and the band. Well done on getting yourself back on track Lee, Stuart, Mike, Jamie and Luke

General CommentGeoff explained this song live at how he recorded this song and sent it to his then ex girlfriend, basically begging her to stay with him. I appreciate looking into it deeper but it has nothing to do with Watkins, a lot of No Devotion's lyrics have similar meanings and mostly written by Geoff and mostly written about his girlfriend. (His girlfriend got back with him after hearing this song, pretty sweet)
