A child will look up in the sky
Ask guidance from the sun
And directions from the moon
Counsel from the mighty ones
Hiding beyond the stars
Far above this earth

No redemption from the skies
No response up from heavens
No relief will ever come
From beyond this realm

For the spirits in their halls
Will turn away their glance
Hearken to the songs of the stars
Consider the weight of time
Ponder over the spheres
Watch how the firmament turns
To place your trust in them
Is like leaping in the dark
Like letting the gale take you where it may

Ward off your fears
Break your harness
Forge your own fate
Rebuild yourself

General CommentWhat the band wrote in their booklet about this song:
Slow and easy death metal ballad! My "being Ville Friman" -moment, in terms of trying to compose as much as Ville -like Insomnium song as I could. And I think I got quite deep in the mind of that guy musically. Arranged partly in the backstage of one venue in Rennes (France) and in the summer cabin surrounded by the woods (Finland). How romantic, hah. Natural continuum for other Insomnium-type ending sons, such as "One For Sorrow" and "Weighed Down With Sorrow". M.Vanhala

My InterpretationYou life is within your power. There's no one guiding you or there to provide you redemption so don't wait for signs or someone to forgive you. You are the only one holding yourself back, as well as the only one who can set yourself free. Break out and become whatever you aim.

    General CommentAnother part written:

Lyrics are in this case inspired by couple of poems by Goethe himself. In the end I just took a few ideas from him and wrote a completely different kind of story that would better suit Insomnium and our Finnish melancholy. The title gives you a clear clue about how to interpret this song.
