Been here before, so I'm prepared
Not gonna lie though, I'm kinda scared
Lace up my gloves, I'm going in
Don't let my kids watch me when I get in the ring
I'll take the hits, roll with the punches
I'll get back up, it's not as if I've never done this
But then again, the game is changing
Can't just come back, jump on the mic and do the same thing
There goes the bell, I know that sound
I guess it's time for me to go another round
Now wish me luck, I'm gonna need it
I'll see you on the other side, if I'm still breathing

RiRi isn't scared of Katy Perry's roaring
Queen B's going back to the drawing
Lorde smells blood, yeah, she's about to slay you
Kid ain't one to fuck with when she's only on her debut
We're all watching Gaga, L-O-L-O, ah-ha
Dying for the art so, really, she's a martyr
The second best will never cut it for the divas
Give me that crown, bitch
I wanna be Sheezus

I'm ready for all the comparisons
I think it's dumb and it's embarrassing
I'm switching off, no longer listening
I've had enough of persecution and conditioning
Maybe it's an instinct, we're only animal
Maybe it's healthy, maybe it's rational
It makes me angry, I'm serious
But then again, I'm just about to get my period
Periods, we all get periods
Every month, yo, that's what the theory is
It's human nature, another cycle
Be nice to me, I'll make you one of my disciples

RiRi isn't scared of Katy Perry's roaring
Queen B's going back to the drawing
Lorde smells blood, yeah, she's about to slay you
Kid ain't one to fuck with when she's only on her debut
We're all watching Gaga, L-O-L-O, ah-ha
Dying for the art so, really, she's a martyr
The second best will never cut it for the divas
Give me that crown, bitch
I wanna be Sheezus

I am born again, now run along and tell
All your friends to come and join us
Give yourselves to me, I am your leader
Let me be Sheezus
Let me be Sheezus

I am born again, now run along and tell
All your friends to come and join us
Give yourselves to me, I am your leader
Let me be Sheezus

    My Interpretation

(A full interpretation, verse by verse, this will be long)

Personally I think the song is about how all the women of the music industry are constantly trying to be different in order to outdo the competition but in a sarcastic and ironic way, even the song title is sarcastic essentially referring to Kanye West's Yeezus.

In the first verse she is talking about getting back into the music industry after starting a family, it's been about 2 or more years since we heard anything from this artist.

Second verse, she is talking about negativity from fans of other artists, potentially Lady Gaga and the others that are mentioned in the song, aswell as the press also giving a negative outlook on artists trying to be different. "Can't just come back, jump on the mic, and do the same thing" is referring to the fact that the music industry is constantly changing and there are new ways of doing things each time.

Third verse, talking about releasing an album or new material and about to join the battle against other artists to get to number one or be compared against other female artists, with the final line concluding that she may not still be going at the end due to all of the competition (sarcasm).

Chorus: Rihanna - Not scared of competition with Katy Perry, two very different artists.

Queen B (Beyonce) - Gone back to the drawing board thinking of new material to set her apart from the rest).

Lorde - Brand new artist (On her debut), this line claims that you can expect bigger things from her and that one day she could be massive, so don't judge too soon.

Gaga - Everybody's laughing at how "stupid" she can be sometimes with her ideas, when actually they're really creative and stand out from the rest, suggesting she may be a martyr as her life completely revolves around this religious kind of theme that she's created herself.

"2nd best will never cut it for the divas" - Backs up my claim that all females in the music industry are competing against eachother to be different and potentially get to number one.

"Give me that crown, bitch. I wanna be Sheezus." - Sarcastic bitchiness saying she wants to be the best and the most different in the music industry.

Verse 4 - Again, backs up my claim about people striving to be better than everyone else in the music industry, claiming how stupid the entire competition is and people should just do what they want whether people like it or not, something Lily Allen does extensively!

Verse 5 - A kind of thought process to decide whether it is right or wrong that this happening, and how people come up with all of these ideas. Also claiming that they're actually all the same people underneath and they all get periods which backs up that it is strictly only about females.

    [Chorus already explained]

Verse 6 - Essentially saying that she has started in the music industry again and is sarcastically claiming she's back in the fight and sarcastically attempting to be the best in the music industry claiming that she wants the female version of Kanye West.

This has nothing to do with any "Illuminati" conspiracies, Lily Allen isn't a part of the so called "Illuminati" and thus has written a sarcastic song regarding most of the artists that are commonly regarded to as "Illuminati members". However these aren't digs, but more like digs at people's interpretation of the people who are about the Illuminati theory.

Hope this clears some things up, again this is just the way I see it, but hopefully it should make more sense now!

Lily leads a very questionable , strange marriage relationship, and is I thought a mother of 2 young children.....but rarely seen with either her kids or husband , but out being seen everywhere and with everyone else. She was spotted with her ex boyfriend in a bar, and car with luggage. That's what she's singing about, being a whore like everyone else.

This song really seems to miss the boat when assessing female pop-star-conquerdom in 2014: no mention of Taylor Swift. Lily didn't see it coming, I guess....

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
