When I got out of my car I stopped myself and thought about
How unimportant locking the door would seem
If the only reason that I turn the lock and key
Is to protect the only living thing inside other than me

And I’m never gonna see it again
No, I’m never gonna see it

When I watch the others wait, it made me shuffle in my seat
And I felt like everyone around somehow related
Not knowing each other’s names we’d gathered here to see
If the ones that we’ve been waiting for would continue to breathe

And I’m never gonna see it again
No, I’m never gonna see

That all this money doesn’t matter when the money only pays
For narcissistic medals we would kill for yesterday
But today's shit has no price tag, just a tag around the toe
That’s slowly going back and forth from warm to pretty cold

And I’m never going to see it again
No, I’m never going to see it

Didn’t mean to talk about blood
Didn’t mean to bother the both of you
Didn’t really need to say much
Didn’t mean to talk about blood

Didn’t mean to talk about...

HOPE version lyrics:

When you got out of your car you stopped yourself
And thought about how unreliable my God had turned out
You found a reason why you forced the lock and key
Like a reset in your mind, a different human being

And you're never gonna see it again
No, you're never gonna see it

There were drawings on your wall of places nobody could see
And the congregation heard that you had been annointed
Not knowing a single thing we gathered here to see
Are you actually the Son of God, our overdue relief

Are we ever gonna see Him again?
Are we ever gonna see Him again?

And all the money didn't matter, man
The money's always played
With cautious indecision
Trying to choose a life to trace

It's faith that has the price-tag
From your face down to your soul
It's cost is in the time you spend
Just wondering where you'll go

Are we ever gonna see Him again?
Are we ever gonna see?

Song MeaningWell unfortunately, I'm not here to really "pontificate" on what I think the message is Andy is trying to convey. However, I will say this is by far the best track on the new album. It is the closest sounding to their older stuff, but also it seems to be the best written in terms of dynamic, chord progression, and overall "distortion"

It seems he's talking about an accident he saw, and is trying to tell someone how precious life is.. but they seem apathetic and don't wanna hear about it.
Like he/she can't be bothered with what happened on the interstate, they are just mad bc he's late or something trivial like that. Obvi I'm spectulating, but you see what I mean

My InterpretationTo me this is about a guy committing suicide, possibly by jumping off a bridge. Copes lyrics from the person committing suicides perspective and hopes from a friend or partners perspective.
I really like the 2nd verse in Cope version which talks about everyone watching and relating a little while waiting for him to jump.
