She was sick of life on earth
So she scrimped and saved for all she was worth
And took the first ship outward bound
She could only afford the shuttle fare to mars
So she hung around in space port bars
Tryna workout the best way to get around
There she met a man named Blake
Who said 'hey baby, I can take you
All the way, to star one'
So she set out on the Liberator
Avon didn't like her, just didn't rate her
But the girl, oh yeah, she was having fun

She was a girl on tour
Girl on tour in the universe...

So there she was lost in space
With the federation on her case
And now the story must be told
How she met a man with an extra head
Who had three arms and was good in bed
And deep down he had a heart of gold
Then there was that night at a galactic rave
When she met a man named Dave
Who cooked the best curry this side of Deep Space Nine
She was hanging loose amongst the stars
A thousand planets, a thousand bars
Just a girl from Earth having a real good time

She was a girl on tour
Girl on tour in the universe...

On the outer rim the money ran out
But a man in a blue box helped her out
He took he to Skaro and Gallifrey
And there she men a man named Picard
Who said getting homes not that hard
I'll drop you off at Babylon Five, that's half way
Then she flew across the sky
Taking passage on a ship called Firefly
Which dropped her off somewhere near Pluto
The she hopped a freighter back to Earth
And said 'hey Ma, my trip was worth it
cos when a girls gotta go, she gotta go'

She was a girl on tour
Girl on tour in the universe...

Song MeaningThis ones about escapism. Apparently this is a song in tribute to a friend of the bands who is a full time carer for her disabled husband. Unable to get out much she relaxes by watching old sci-fi TV show box sets, so the band decided to work as many references to her favourite shows into the lyrics as possible. There's about a dozen shows hinted at, some are obvious, but others are very obscure. Anyone fancy ago at spotting them?
