Talk to you, the same old thing (whoa)
Meet you at ten around the corner of Downer Street (whoa whoa oh, whoa, whoa whoa oh)
Yeah, okay, your girlfriend's away (whoa)
So does that mean that I can come and take her place? (whoa whoa oh, whoa, whoa whoa oh)

'Cause when we're together it feels like it did
When we were younger, we were better
Well, I remember, oh
When we were young, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
When we were young

What we do, it's all up to you (whoa)
I bet she wouldn't mind if I spent a night or two (whoa whoa oh, whoa, whoa whoa oh)
And don't you know it's inevitable (whoa)
It's just a matter of time 'til you see it's just you and me (whoa whoa oh, whoa, whoa whoa oh)

'Cause now I know I can see there it will be
When we're together we'll be older
I remember, oh
When we were young, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
When we were young

Remember when I (remember when I)
Remember when, whoa

You kissed me
Under a tree
And you carved initials:
You and me, L-O-V-E

When we were young, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
When we were young
You and me under the tree (when we were young)
You and me under the tree (when we were young)
You and me under the tree (when we were young)
You and me under the tree (when we were young)
When we were young

My InterpretationThis song is awesome. Very similar to the Strokes. Makes sense, seeing that Danielle Haim played with Julian Casablancas on his solo tour.

Anyways, I'd say the song's pretty self explanatory meaning wise; The singer wants an old love back, and is convincing them to essentially cheat on and/or dump whoever their new person is.
