Crawling out the need to protect me
I comb the earth to find me a stronger hand
I stand on the edge
Of sadness
That I can’t face
It tastes like I’m leaving
Suddenly I’ll leave it all behind

Tell you heart to jump to another
The darkness grows
In our never ending night
I stand on the edge
Of sadness
That I can’t face
It tastes like I’m leaving
Suddenly I’ll leave all behind

Ashes to ash
It leaves me with nothing
I’m falling away
Well if you want her
The touch and the spell
Her eyes are so wild
We stand on the edge
It tastes like I’m leaving
Suddenly I’ll leave it all behind

My InterpretationAnna said of this album that it is about the moment when you have to make a decision that could change everything, and how exciting, but also dangerous that is.

Suddenly seems to really hit this message home. This idea of standing on the edge of sadness and leaving something behind suggests a change that could lead to something terrible. On the other hand, the chants of the chorus and melody is quite upbeat, almost joyous, like the narrator has broken out of some kind of oppression. This suggests that whatever the change is, it eventually did more good than harm to the narrator.
