A fading sting, of dealing
And I would come but i'm teething
My faith is humdrum, my wait is over
Hmm, the peeling of fear
A feeling from death
And the paling sting in me
'Cos i'm sure of death
There's no weeping
My faith is humdrum, my wait is over
When I found a girl, in pairs
No, I had to see you again
Hmm, the peeling of fear
I'm sure of death
Here's the bee sting!
My faith is humdrum, my wait is over
When I found a girl, in pairs
No, I had to see you again

General CommentI think this song is about bereavement. Duncan's lyrics are always so abstract, I can never be certain of where he's going with them. But I think he's attempting to describe the pain of someone close to you dying. It's like a bee sting, a 'fading sting, of dealing'. Perhaps it's suggesting that being reminded of the pain, is like remembering the person who has died. You try to forget, but perhaps 'I had to see you again' suggests it's impossible to forget.
