A gentleman is so nineteen-ninety-five, so hard for a girl to find
A real husband is so nineteen-ninety-nine, so hard for a girl to find (what)
'Cause most dudes just hit it and quit it
And then they wonder why most girls just spit it
A gentleman is so nineteen-ninety-five, so hard for a girl to find

You're not a lady if you're always on your knees
Shouldn't have to beg a gentleman, so please be gentle, please
Oh, you're beautiful, oh, I hope you know
He over-compensates by buying you fancy cars
Just to cover up the fact that he stays out all night in bars
If you can't see, then maybe he's not meant to be

A gentleman is so nineteen-ninety-five, so hard for a girl to find
A real husband is so nineteen-ninety-nine, so hard for a girl to find (What)
'Cause most dudes just hit it and quit it
And then they wonder why most girls just spit it
A gentleman is so nineteen-ninety-five, so hard for a girl to find

You had his baby, so you might got him for now
He already had the milk, so why would he go buy the cow?
Hop in, your chance is slim especially when I'm lying next to him

I wouldn't marry him, no, not if I were you
'Cause if he's been cheating on me, then he'll probably cheat on you
Hop in, your chance is slim, especially when, he's lying next to them

A gentleman is so nineteen-ninety-five, so hard for a girl to find
A real husband is so nineteen-ninety-nine, so hard for a girl to find, what
'Cause most dudes just hit it and quit it
And then they wonder why most girls just spit it
A gentleman is so nineteen-ninety-five, so hard for a girl to find

Don't get me wrong, I know that
Most girls ain't perfect angels
I'll let you taste my rainbow
You could at least be faithful

A gentleman, with a nine to five
A real husband so nineteen-ninety-nine
A gentleman, with a nine to five
A real husband so nineteen-ninety-nine

A gentleman is so nineteen-ninety-five, so hard for a girl to find
A real husband is so nineteen-ninety-nine, so hard for a girl to find (What)
'Cause most dudes just hit it and quit it
And then they wonder why most girls just spit it
A gentleman is so nineteen-ninety-five, so hard for a girl to find

I need a Ryan Gosling, I need a Robert Pattinson
Somebody I can take to Mama, I need to find my Obama
I need a Jonas Brother and, how about a Denzel Washington?
I need a Kellen Lutz, and a Channing Tatum, throw 'em my way, I'll date 'em
I need a Drake, I need a Ludacris, I need a Wheezy, I don't care who he is
Heard 'em say I need a Kanye, he ain't a gentleman, but I'll have him anyway
George Clooney, Lamar Odom, Larry King, I like 'em older
All the gentleman from all around the world, holla at me, holla at me, let me be your girl

A gentleman, nine to five
A real husband nineteen-ninety-nine
A gentleman, nine to five
A real husband nineteen-ninety-nine

Go go nineties, go go nineties
Go go go go go nineties, go go nineties, go go go nineties
So nineteen-ninety-nine
nineteen-ninety-nine
Ninety-nine
So nineteen-ninety-nine

    My Interpretation

"so 1995" and "so 1999" - mean that they were fashionable in 1995 and 1999 respectively, but aren't any more. "most dudes just hit it and quit it" - referring to the fact that most guys just sleep with a lady and then leave her. "most girls just spit it" - referring to girls who refuse to swallow after performing fellatio (oral sex), often seen as a sign that they are unwilling to submit to their partner sexually. "not a lady if you're always on your knees" - referring to girls who perform fellatio in order to get guys to like them "shouldn't have to beg a gentleman" - referring to the fact that a real gentleman would not have to receive sexual favours in order to get him to do something "you're beautiful" - she is telling the girl that she is beautiful, presumably the girl is losing her self-esteem because of so many guys mistreating her. "if you can't see, then maybe he's not meant to be" - referring to the fact that guys who manipulate can only have effective relationships with women who know full well they are trying to manipulate them and play them at their own game, but women who can't see it won't ever make it work. "he already had the milk, so why would he go buy the cow" - referring to guys who have got what they want from a girl (milk, in this case a metaphor for sex) so he doesn't need to buy the cow (make a commitment) "let you taste my rainbow" - referring to allowing a guy to perform oral sex on her, an act which a lot of women reserve for the person they are most intimate with "I need to find my Obama" - referring to Barack Obama, seen as a gentleman "Jonas Brother" - a member of the band The Jonas Brothers "Kanye, he ain't a gentleman" - referring to Kanye West "gentleman, 9 to 5" - referring to the fact that men who have "9 to 5" jobs are desirable, perhaps because most well paid jobs are 9 to 5 on paper, or perhaps because a guy who works these hours is free in the evenings for dates. "go go go 90s" - she is celebrating the 1990s when gentlemen were easier to come by.

Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
