I feel my life is fading away…
I feel my soul is slipping away…
I feel the mask replacing my face…
I feel nothing; I can’t feel a thing…

I am one with darkness which fills my life with energy and I can’t explain why it feels so good to cover it up and never face the world without the mask put on, and it feels so good to sever the skin and burn up the pain which hides underneath, the leaves fall again and the cycle moves on again and again, the world seems to change as it turns around to bring up the memories I want to destroy so that I don’t have to face my inhibitions I hide to ignore the world, the loves that remain but not what I gain, and it hurts so much to think I am all alone…

I see everything crashing around me…
I see pictures that become a nightmare…
I see myself, but I don’t recognize the image staring back at me…
I see nothing in my reflection…

I am one with darkness which fills my life with energy and I can’t explain why it feels so good to cover it up and never face the world without the mask put on, and it feels so good to sever the skin and burn up the pain which hides underneath, the leaves fall again and the cycle moves on again and again, the world seems to change as it turns around to bring up the memories I want to destroy so that I don’t have to face my inhibitions I hide to ignore the world, the loves that remain but not what I gain, and it hurts so much to think I am all alone…

Free me from this curse…
Take me away holding my hand…
Touch my face; you’ll soon feel I am human…
Caress your hair, you’ll feel what I feel…

General CommentThis song acts as a continuation from State of Mind and how there are two sanctuaries I created, one being The Dark One which got a slight introduction in "beginning of the end" and the second one which this song goes into, and in my opinion intimately explains that while The Shadow is an escape, it doesn't do the "job" because there is a shred of human want and need even within something like Shadow. I do say that it feels good to slightly separate myself from the world in such a way it doesn't go too deep within the escape it leads to the malevolent force taking over, yet the Shadow is not less tragic than the reality it is still somewhat a part of and does still wish for things even though they seem impossible to gain.
