I'm thinking it over
the way you made me feel all sexy but it's causing me shame
I wanna lean on your shoulder
I wish I was in love but I don't wanna cause any pain
And if I'm feeling like I'm evil we got nothin' to gain

What if I never even see you cause we're both on a stage
Don't tell me listen to your song because it isn't the same
I don't wanna say that love is a waiting game

Baby, I'm thinking it over
What if the way we started made it something cursed from the start
What if it only gets colder
Would you still wrap me up and tell me that you think this was smart
Cause lately I've been scared of even thinkin' bout where we are

What if I never even see you cause we're both on a stage
Don't tell me listen to your song because it isn't the same
I don't wanna say that love is a waiting game

What if I never even see you cause we're both on a stage
Don't tell me listen to your song because it isn't the same
I don't wanna say that love is a waiting game

    My Interpretation

I think this song is about not wanting to be in a long distance relationship.

"I'm thinking it over The way you make me feel all sexy but it's causing me shame I wanna lean on your shoulder I wish I was in love but I don't wanna cause any pain And if I'm feeling like I'm evil, we've got nothing to gain"

She's thinking about this relationship. He always is making her feel good about herself yet she's not giving anything in return and its causing her shame. She wants to be able to be with him and lean on him. She wants to be in love with him but she's afraid that this type of relationship will only cause pain. And by her feeling this way there's no happiness for them both and she feels like this makes her the bad guy.

"What if I never even see you cause we're both on a stage Don't tell me listen to your song because it isn't the same I don't wanna say your love is a waiting game"

She feels like they both are just acting out a false hope of a relationship, one where they cant see each other because of distance. She doesn't want to hear the same "song" and dance about how it'll be ok and how it will work because she feels it isn't the same. At the same time she doesn't want to feel like being in love with him would just be a game of waiting until they can be together physically.

"Baby I'm thinking it over What if the way we started made it something cursed from the start What if it only gets colder Would you still wrap me up and tell me that you think this was smart Cause lately I've been scared of even thinking 'bout where we are"

She's thinking about how since they started growing feelings for each other without having met face to face that the relationship was doomed in the first place. She feels "cold" meaning theres no one there to really be with her to hold her. She goes on to say would you still "wrap me up" meaning comfort her and tell her that its still a good idea. She finishes saying she afraid to think about "where" meaning locations and how its will affect their (we are) relationships development into much more.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Plastic Bag

“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
