"Waiting For Superman" as written by Martin Johnson, Chris Daughtry and Sam Hollander....
She’s watching the taxi driver, he pulls away
She’s been locked up inside her apartment a hundred days
She says, “Yeah, he’s still coming, just a little bit late
He got stuck at the laundromat washing his cape”
She’s just watching the clouds roll by and they spell her name like Lois Lane
And she smiles, oh the way she smiles

She’s talking to angels, counting the stars
Making a wish on a passing car
She’s dancing with strangers, falling apart
Waiting for Superman to pick her up
In his arms yeah, in his arms yeah
Waiting for Superman

She’s out on the corner trying to catch a glimpse
Nothing’s making sense
She’s been chasing an answer
A sign lost in the abyss, this Metropolis
She says "Yeah, he’s still coming, just a little bit late"
He got stuck at the Five and Dime saving the day”
She says "If life was a movie, then it wouldn’t end like this"
Left without a kiss
Still, she smiles, oh the way she smiles, yeah

She’s talking to angels, she’s counting the stars
Making a wish on a passing car
She’s dancing with strangers, she’s falling apart
Waiting for Superman to pick her up
In his arms yeah, in his arms yeah
She’s waiting for Superman

To lift her up and take her anywhere
Show her love and climbing through the air
Save her now, before it’s too late tonight
Oh like the speed of light
And she smiles

She’s talking to angels, she’s counting the stars
Making a wish on a passing car
She’s dancing with strangers, she’s falling apart
Waiting for Superman to pick her up
In his arms yeah, oh in his arms yeah
She’s waiting for Superman

To lift her up and take her anywhere
Show her love and climbing through the air
Save her now before it’s too late tonight
She’s waiting for Superman

My InterpretationI think the girl in that song is a single girl, who has never really dated being in relationships. But she believes that someone out there is her love. She believes in fate and trust that there is someone out there who would find her and love her and that love would be eternal. She's patient and waiting for her Soul mate"
Therefore, she's tolerant of him being so late.

She says, “Yeah, he’s still coming, just a little bit late

She doesn't tire herself from waiting rather fantasize about the guy who would be magical.

"She’s just watching the clouds roll by and they spell her name like Lois Lane
And she smiles, oh the way she smiles"

She's completely Okay with waiting therefore she smiles and LIVES her life. But she is very hopeful. She truly believes in SERENDIPITY.She sometimes doubt that she probably does not have a soul mate after all.Because it seems to her that she's already been waiting for a long time. The waiting is effortless for her because she does not want to fool around with guys, dating having fun rather is one of those who just BELIEVES IN ONE LOVE AND ONE LOVE ONLY.She know she's beautiful and capable.Guys love her and wants her but she Is STUBBORN to not get with them and Wait for her surprising piece of luck a fluke. But on certain occasions her ASPIRATIONS lose strength or momentum.

"She’s talking to angels, counting the stars
Making a wish on a passing car
She’s dancing with strangers, falling apart
Waiting for Superman to pick her up
In his arms yeah, in his arms yeah
    Waiting for Superman"

"She’s out on the corner trying to catch a glimpse
    Nothing’s making sense
    She’s been chasing an answer
A sign lost in the abyss, this Metropolis"

Hence she thinks to herself. When the guy finally comes in her life that guy better make up for all the time she has wasted DAY DREAMING. She fantasize that guy to be pure GENTLEMAN.And ALL the things she wants in a a guy.She knows she is a good girl and she has never done anything wrong and BELIEVES that nothing wrong is going to happen to her.She deserves her ONE TRUE LOVE SOUL MATE.She is hopeful for a prosperous and magical Love. She seems to believe in Fairy tales. Her hopes her not that high though,All she wants;ove and happy life.

Therefore when the ASS of a guy who finally comes in her life better Has-

"To lift her up and take her anywhere
Show her love and climbing through the air
Save her now, before it’s too late tonight
OH LIKE THE SPEED OF LIGHT
    And she smiles"

She is a nice girl. She believes Same conduct towards her will come. She knows she is going to treat Him" like a king if he is all she has hoped for.But she also knows everything has a timing. When the right time comes she is going to find her.THERE IS NO DESPERATION WORKING IN THIS SONG.When the time comes the guy better HAS-

"To lift her up and take her anywhere
Show her love and climbing through the air
Save her now before it’s too late tonight
    She’s waiting for Superman"

My InterpretationA girl, so broken and depressed by her past, knowing that there is someone out there to save her. Her Superman, looking out for her. Protecting her.

General CommentIt's about a girl who has been broken down in the past. A girl who's not sure of her future. Her life ahead. She knows that there is someone who would hold her high and treat her like princess she deserves to be treated like. She knows that deep down inside of her, she would do the same too. She only has to say the word and he will come rushing into her arms

My InterpretationWhile it is stated that this song is meant to be about waiting for the right guy, I interpreted this differently, and I'd just like to share my thoughts on it :) So please don't read if you're looking for the actual meaning.

I've always thought that this was the story of a lady who loves a man who died, e.g

"'Yeah, he's still coming, just a little bit late
He got stuck at the laundromat washing his cape'"
Is a bit like she's in denial of some sort, saying that he'll come back, but he's not really going to.

    "She's talking to angels,"
This might be why I thought of it like that, because my friend told me that she always thought that those who were insane and talked to thin air were talking to angels, or a higher deity of sorts. So I always took this as the girl is going slightly mad.

    "Counting the stars,"
Generally, there is an almost infinite amount of stars, so one does not often count them. I took this as something to kill off time and worry.

    "Waiting for Superman,"
While this can be interpreted as 'Waiting for the right guy,' I've always believed that she missed him so much that his very presence would soothe her mind, therefore 'saving' her from depression etc.

"Save her now, before it's too late tonight,"
Again, the 'saviour' thing, because she's worried that she'll dive a little too deep into this whole delusion/depression thing.

"To lift her up and take her anywhere,"
Like saying 'I don't care where you're going to take me, but I need you next to me,'

So... yeah. Just my interpretation, not the actual one :)

General CommentI think this song is about a girl who wants to find true love so bad. She is desperate to find her superman. But because she wants to find him so bad she is to trusting and will believe anyone if they tell her they like her. She makes excuse to herself of how awesome they are when they mess up, hence the "he's just all little bit late" and how he's doing all these amazing things.
