Who drains the blood from my head I do, I do
Who comes through with the meds I do, I do
Blackened seeds you're gonna needs these, freeze
The common ancestor
The pressure of industry
Who sleeps in the grease crease wax
And trails of mutual deceit
I heard that growth was gettin weak
Who taps the line ,records my mind,
Twisted agenda, align my spine
Whose got the steeples, the people and scepters,
the rocks on the beaches, the angles the vectors.
Who drains the blood from my head I do, I do
And who accepts me as I am I do, I do

Relationships are a tool that can fuel the facade over my disguise
Fulfill my ego I do what I do with unrelenting compromise
When it's all on the table you know I'll be able
to duck, dodge and run and hide
got a good education in disinformation, adept at constructing lies.

The crack on the staircase, I smoked out of boredom
My kitchen is filled with meat and chloroform
Squirming colors metastasize
Upon viewing the world the fetus eats its own eyes

Acting the fiction and, signing the right away,
Transistor electrocute, wiping the order away.
Awkward offensive hold, perfectly natural
They can't speak bout my brand, because I'm dead and white

Acting the fiction and, signing the right away,
Transistor electrocute, wiping the order away.
Awkward offensive hold, perfectly natural
They can't speak bout my brand, because I'm dead and white

I'm the one I'm the one with my hands around the gun
I am not afraid
I am not afraid

I'm the one I'm the one with my hands around the gun
I am not afraid
I am not afraid

I'm the one I'm the one with my hands around the gun
I am not afraid
I am not afraid

I'm the one I'm the one with my hands around the gun
I am not afraid
I am not afraid

So what I'll die alone all right
So what I'll die alone all right
So what I'll die alone all right
So what I'll die alone all right
So what I'll die alone all right
So what I'll die alone all right

Woke up in a new Bugatti
Then I burned it
Woke up next to Jodi Arias
She my hood bitch
Double it down on all the clowns trying to remake DBM
Man you crazy
We started this sound from Sac Town
Bitch you best be home by 10
Curfew bitch

I see the song as kind of a dark and disturbing story: you have a main character realizing how messed up his society is (verse 1: "twisted agenda, align my spine!", "the common ancestor, the pressure of industry"). he realizes how the system is shallow and able to manipulated (verse 2: "relationships are a tool..."), then eventually descends into insanity (verse 3 to the part with the crazed laughter?). it appears to end with suicide (last clean vocals: "I'm the one with my hands around the gun. I am not afraid. So what I'll die alone? all right.") I find those last lines particularly disturbing and heartbreaking, as they sound completely comfortable. "I am not afraid. so what? alright." so that's how I see it. a person in a corrupt society, going insane, and ending with suicide. so yeah. now I feel like I need a hug. from a puppy.

p.s. I'm not sure what to make of the rap, but I don't think it was intended to make any sense in the song anyway.

    My Interpretation

I sat for about an hour analyzing this song. This is what I got. I realize that this explanation is very loosely connected and it is my own explanation. Not the people's who made it. There are three main parts to the song; 1:The first part conveys corruption in the world and themself in that corrupted world. 2: This is the part that doesnt have any lyrics, its just chaos. I think of it to represent insanity or the chaos of insanity. 3:This is the part with "Im the one with my hands around the gun" and So what ill die alone all right" and is about about suicide and the acceptance thereof. 4:The rap. It took me forever to figure out, but, the rap is about conformity. "I woke up in a new Bugatti" is part of a popular song. Earlier in the song a lot of things about human nature or natural things come up. "Common ancestor"/"Awkward offensive hold, pefectly natural" And evolution, which relates to "common ancestor" is all about conformity. And in nature, everything conforms to survive. Conform to the mainstream and you will forget about all the bad and survive, is assentially what I get from the rap part.

Now this s how it all fits together in my view. (Again this is just my view and it makes the most sense to me) Since part one is how the world is, and cannot change, part 2(insanity), 3(Suicide) and 4(Conformity) are all choices that someone provided with the information in part one can make. But only one can be picked. You cant go insane, commit suicide, then conform. at least in the songs order. And the title "Acceptance Speech" is a reference to that this must be accepted; that being yourself and the world, and choices 3 and 4 is what can happen when you accept it. If you dont accept it, you pick choice 2. I have about two page fulls of possible explanations of the individual song lyrics, and this is what I find fits best. If you have anything to add or something that is flawed with my interpretation, please add onto it or correct me.

Somewhere down the line, I get the feeling that the "acceptance speech" is actually an acceptance of suicide, Idk, it's just my take on it.

I agree with what doomy said. to me it feels like a recollection or reliving of past sins and just wanting to end it. dwelling on past mistakes can make us hate ourselves. this is why he needs an acceptance speech. to accept himself exactly the way he is.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
