Nothing’s for real x4
Nothing’s more real
Nothing’s more real than the blood that she gave that dances on either side of the cut that was made
I wonder why sometimes to admit that love makes up for the pain that’s stuck to the walls up any things
Calls for a drought already stained claws are wound down ‘cause the ground calls her name
But she falls crawling around looking for her childhood face afraid to reenact the old times ruled in the blades
The roll of the dice the eyes of the snake the stare into her eyes until the lie becomes contagious
I’m afraid I wasn’t made afraid I wasn’t made to ever feel the way I feel and I can’t see her in this state no more
I don’t know why they got me stuck right up in their face
But tonight she bites the bullet down and holds on to the taste
They taste better when the scare inscript bare and take what he prepares nightmare is embraced
To betrayed to show off into a low self esteem to a summer’s struck sun for long enough for it to thaw around the hell that’s caught between her god and frostbit teeth and cling on to her afterglow that’s fighting to come out and play (my share afterglow)
To betrayed to show off into a low self esteem to a summer’s struck sun for long enough for it to thaw around the hell that’s caught between her god and frostbit teeth and cling on to her afterglow that’s fighting to come out and play
Come out and play under the bridge cry some day under the bridge x2
Keep it a lie outside this is to afterglow come you and I we’re alive and be invisible wouldn’t feel the need to know why something did this to you who did this to you
Be a a lie find things invisible if only you and I were invisible wouldn’t feel the need to know why something did this to you who could do this to you
Keep it a lie keep it a lie keep it a lie that outside this is to afterglow x3
Keep it a lie keep it a lie keep it a lie keep it a lie
Please from the bottom of my heart help me put it back together tell me how to fall apart
How could you dare keep a child in the dark for that long how young did it start
She came from you you say you care you’re way too sick for this little world
Killers I’m in afraid to shoot drag the prang into that room walked away to make you suffer just like that little girl
See life is a game of making memories but for some it’s hard to get past the past cuz someone else felt bad enough for themselves they thought they had the right to make it feel like pleasure is power when complying to death
That’s the unforbidden pact that makes a princess kiss death cloudy eye crystal glass picture perfect mayhem half empty regret and yet she still holds her breath on keys silently
I’m disgusted with the lust disguised as love and the trust that it corrupted when it locked itself up and ate the key
Don’t keep it to yourself don’t give yourself away leave a lay where it belongs walk away reach out and scream and if it’s out loud the sound is bound to find a drain but for now it’s ripping down inside the walls that were created
And when they tumble down we’ll pick apart at the remains hang the pictures that you love and hang the ones you hate
Beautiful don’t last to long
You been true to have yourself
I would too but that’s a shot
In the dark I hear something
Forgiveness is never old
Forgiveness is never owned
Forgiveness is miserable
Forgiveness is miracle

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
