I lost a signal and put you away
Swore upon the sun I'd save you for a rainy day
Loosen the noose and let go of the rope
I know if it's never coming back it has to go

I keep calling your name (I keep calling your name)
I wanna hold you close but I never wanna feel ashamed
So I keep calling at night (keep calling at night)
I wanna hold you close, I just never I wanna hold you tight

Goodness gracious, I can't seem to stop
Calling it off
Calling you up just to keep crawling to your arms
Goodness gracious, I can't seem to stop
Calling it off
Calling you up just to keep crawling to your arms

I found the weakness and put it to play
Swore upon the stars I'd keep you 'til the night was day
Shake my head dizzy so I'll never know
You said if you're never coming back, you have to go

I keep calling your name (I keep calling your name)
I wanna hold you close but I never wanna feel ashamed
So I keep calling at night (keep calling at night)
I wanna hold you close, I just never I wanna hold you tight

Goodness gracious, I can't seem to stop
Calling it off
Calling you up just to keep crawling to your arms
Goodness gracious, I can't seem to stop
Calling it off
Calling you up just to keep crawling to your arms

Calling you up just to keep crawling to your arms
Calling you up just to keep crawling to your arms

Oh my goodness, here I go again
Pulling you back to me
Pulling you back into my arms so selfishly
I don't think I understand 'cause I don't really know myself
I keep calling you up, calling you up
Calling you up, calling you up, calling you up

Goodness gracious, I can't seem to stop
Calling it off
Calling you up just to keep crawling to your arms
Goodness gracious, I can't seem to stop
Calling it off
Calling you up just to keep crawling to your arms

Calling you up just to keep crawling to your arms
Calling you up just to keep crawling to your arms

    My Interpretation

I lost the signal and put you away Swore upon the sun I'd save you for a rainy day Loosen the noose and let go of the rope I know if it's never coming back it has to go this line is basically talking about how Ellie loved this person a lot, but she wasn't getting the same vibe from him, and decided to "put him away" until his feelings would change. Then she's going crazy, having a fun life without him, and she know that if he isn't coming back to her, she's got to let go, but she feels fine with that.

I keep callin' your name, keep callin' your name I wanna hold you close but I never wanna feel ashamed So I keep callin' at night, keep callin' at night I wanna hold you close I just never wanna hold you tight Ellie keeps trying to get him back, and she wants to love him but her friends/family don't approve, so she's "calling him at night" and she wants to be with him but now not so much

Goodness gracious I can see the stars Callin' me out, callin' me out just to keep crawlin' into your arms Goodness gracious I can see the stars Callin' me out, callin' me out just to keep crawlin' into your arms she can see the stars "calling her" to come back to him, its like HE sent them

I found the weakness and put it to play Swore upon the stars I'd keep you til the night was day Shake my head dizzy so I'll never know You said if you're never comin' back you have to go She found what made him not love her and she decided to stay with him until he started to act up again, or, " 'til the night was day"; Then he's acting up again and she's making herself dizzy trying to love him when it's not even worth it anymore

    I keep calling your name...

    Goodness gracious...

Oh my goodness, here I go again Pullin' you back to me, pullin' you back into my arms so selfishly I don't think I understand cuz I don't really know myself I keep callin' you callin' you out Callin' you out, callin' you out, callin' you out She's trying so hard to stay with him and to make him stay with her and she doesn't realize that she's keeping him away from everyone, being selfish, and she doesn't even know herself anymore because she is trying SOOO hard and it was really never meant to be

    Goodness gracious...

and that's it, really, but in general this song is about how Ellie loved someone and it was an on and off relationship until she was trying way to hard to like him when he was awful to her and then she realized that it wasn't worth it

LOVE THIS SONG LOVE YOU ELLIE <3 <3 <3 BEST SONG EVER!!! XD

    General Comment

This is direct from wikipedia: "Goulding explained the meaning behind "Goodness Gracious" to Rolling Stone, saying, "I've been in situations where I knew someone wasn't right for me, yet I kept bringing them back", adding that the song "is about dissing yourself for not thinking straight and not being fair."

I love this song just because of the tempo and the feel... it sounds like that moment you realize you're free from that sort of toxic relationship.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
