"17 Crimes" as written by and David Paden Marchand Adam A Carson....
If you had a day,
would you give me a moment?
Would you allow our play
to leave no bone unbroken?

Let's love, like 17
I'm in love with poisoning.
Only bring your pretty, frightful gifts to me.
Let's love, and kill like 17 now.

If I weren't so cold
we could unfreeze this moment
And as the world grows old,
We'll leave no heart unbroken

Let's love, like 17
I'm in love with poisoning.
Only bring your pretty, frightful gifts to me
Let's love, and kill like 17 now.

Tomorrow cannot be like this.
And even though it's such a simple world,
tomorrow cannot be like this.
Tomorrow they will take a stand.
We'll leave no heart unbroken

Let's love, like 17
I'm in love with poisoning.
Only bring your pretty, frightful gifts to me
Let's love, and kill like 17 now.

Let's love, like 17
I'm in love with your new screams
Only bring those pretty, frightful things to me.
Let's love, and kill like 17 now.
Let's run, and kill like 17 now.
Let's love, and kill like 17.

My InterpretationIt seems like Davey's painting a nostalgic picture of the memory of being 17.

The heart is so much more susceptable to the affects of love and heatbreak when you are that age - going up and down in a rollercoaster of emotions. Love is such a dangerous feeling then because it can be so easily shattered and most don't have the emotional tools in which to deal with it.

I think this song is about feeling nostalgic for that kind of emotional vulnerability and the excitement and extremes of emotion it inspires and almost sad because, you know you can never feel quite like that agiain

General Commentwondering about the line "let's kill like 17"... seems important to the song, as it's the constant refrain.
is it figurative? if it's literal, and is referring to something specific in davey's mind, then it pretty much changes the direction of the song (or the meaning of the first comment, which i agree with)
