If you could spit it out
If you could only shout.
When you open your mouth
Pull the trigger with your tongue.
But your heart goes numb
No, you can't make a sound.

You can never break the silence in your heart, in your heart.
You can never break the silence
It's in your bones, in your bones.

Even if it breaks your heart
You set your soul apart.
You turn yourself around.
You're just a quiet kid.
It's all you can do not to blow your lid
Without making a sound.

You can never break the silence in your heart, in your heart.
You can never break the silence
It's in your bones, in your bones.

You can never break the silence in your heart, in your heart.
You can never break the silence
It's in your bones, in your bones.
You can never break the silence.

    My InterpretationOne Interpretation:

Having a major secret that you have kept to yourself, and thinking "if only" the other person could know the dark secret that has tormented your spirit. Every time your tongue tries to pull the trigger on your secret, your hurt goes "numb" and you end up alone with nothing left but the silence.

You don't allow the secret to escape, the secret is as solid and hidden as the bones beneath your flesh and will not break easy. A secret you are willing to take to the grave if you have to; and even after all the flesh has departed from your bones the silence that is your secret can never be broken. A silent oath that must be kept.

Even if it's eating you up inside, you must keep these emotions to the side. You keep your silence despite the dishonesty after all this time, and now that the pressure has built up, your best move is to not lose your mind or yourself over this.

No matter how much your heart wants to spill the secret, it's been buried so deep inside your flesh to the bones to which it refuses to depart.

My InterpretationI think it represents most peoples everyday fear with saying the words "I love you". Knowing that just by saying those three words, you go beyond the point of no return and fear the consequences of making your feelings known.
The trigger represents the release of the bullet of information which has the potential to be shooting yourself in the foot with. (For example the fear that telling a very close friend that you love her might drive her to distance herself from you). It could also represent the movement of your tongue when you pronounce the letter 'L' as it gets pulled back.

Great simple song with lots of emotion and something that most people can relate to.
