"Waitin' On the Day" as written by and John Mayer....
Waiting on a day
Where my thoughts are my own
When this house is my home
And plans are made

When you'll be there for me baby
When you'll love me all the way
When you take my side in every little firefight
When you hang your things and stay
I'm waiting on a day

When my life on the run
Reaches out in the sun
And shows my age

I'm waiting on a day
When that voice comes to sing
It's not wrong what you did
For just a kiss

When you'll be there for me baby
When you'll love me all the way
When you take my side in every little firefight
When you hang your things and stay
I'm waiting on a day

Waiting on a day
When these words are in stone
When the kids are out grown
And we go dancing

Oh can you do it baby?
Can you love me all the way?
Will you tie me tight in little strands of paradise?
Will you walk with me before the morning fades?

I'm waiting in a day

General CommentAlways frustrates me to hear someone say they don't "like" someone who they don't know. I digress...

I've followed John Mayer since he was a young man in the late 90's releasing EP's and his first set of radio singles. It's been pretty incredible to see him grow and change as an artist and as a man. One thing, however, has not changed about John Mayer and that seems to be a longing for a simple life with a woman that he truly, deeply cares for. Other songs like Home Life and almost the entire album Born and Raised ring of a man who just wants to find her and love her forever without all the challenges of being a famous musician. I believe that John is torn between wanting to be a rambling man who sucks the marrow out of youth and wanting to be the rock steady man of someones dreams. As someone who often times feels this way, and one of his biggest fans, I wish him luck in this search for common ground.

General CommentThe beauty of all John Mayer song is that that, they are all so relate-able. I have always got the feeling "Oh! I could have wrote this!" whenever I come across a new song of his.

This song, from my point of view, is about John waiting for someone who is worth waiting for to spend his life with. How he wish to have a simple life with that 'someone'. "When you take my side in every little firefight" is just so touching. And I also feel its about how he regrets letting go of someone who was worth waiting for in the past. About someone who could have been the one but he blew up his chances with. Love it...
