Now brave boys, we're on the march
Off to Portugal and Spain
Drums a-beating, banners a-waving
The Devil a-home will come tonight
Love, fare thee well
With me tooda-loora da, me tooda-loora da
Me rite fa tur a laddie-o
There's whiskey in the jar

Hey, whiskey you're the devil
You're leading me astray
Over hills and mountains
Into Amerikay
You're sweetness, stronger, decenter
You're spunkier than tea
Oh whiskey you're me darling drunk or sober

The French are fighting boldly
Men are dying hot and coldly
Let every man be to the fore
With his firelock on his shoulder
Love, fare thee well
Me tooda-loora da, tooda-loora da
Me rite fa tur a laddie-o
There's whiskey in the jar

Hey, whiskey you're the devil
You're leading me astray
Over hills and mountains
Into Amerikay
You're sweetness, stronger, decenter
You're spunkier than tea
Oh whiskey you're me darling drunk or sober

Says a mother, "do not wrong me
Don't take me daughter from me
For if you do I will torment you
and after death me dead ghost will haunt you."
Love, fare thee well
With me tooda-loora da, me toora-loora da
Me rite fa tur a laddie-o
There's whiskey in the jar

Hey, whiskey you're the devil
You're leading me astray
Over hills and mountains
Into Amerikay
You're sweetness, stronger, decenter
And spunkier than tea
Oh whisky you're me darling drunk or sober

Hey, whiskey you're the devil
You're leading me astray
Over hills and mountains
Into Amerikay
You're sweetness, stronger, decenter
And spunkier than tea
Oh whiskey you're me darling drunk or sober.

General CommentIt's actually not "You're sweetness from the Bleachner" whatever that means, but "You're sweetness, stronger, decenter," with "decenter" meaning "more decent."
